My first report was not favorable, had a bad hunt, had a lot of replies. My second report was good, hardly any replies.
Just curious if peeps like bad reports better?

I use the car and traffic analogy..... when it like looks a car wreck, everyone seems to slow down to take a look and make a judgment. But if a driver is curtious and every thing goes as it's supposed too, everyone just keeps about their business.....

Regardless, please keep the hunt reports coming. Good or bad, one of the biggest tools we as hunters have at our disposal is previous hunters experiences right at our fingertips on great Forums like AH.

You noticed something I have been wondering about for awhile now. Seems like way to many are only posting on threads with people they know or who they hunt with anymore. That to me is a shame when others cant be happy for someone else or make a comment because it is not who they hunt with.

All you need to do is look at the reports and you will see the trend. Proud to say most of the guys who have hunted with Paw print will still comment on others reports. Hate seeing things get so clicky but it happens.

I myself would much rather read your second report since it worked out for you.

Hi

I went and looked at your thread. I missed it the first time I think. Looks like you had a great time.

It seems to me that your posts have a lot of "likes" with a bunch of comments too. I think your report was well recieved and commented on. Keep it up I say. When is the next one going to be :sneaky::D

Your report was viewed by 1550 as of today, with a lot of the viewers being the strong, silent types. A lot of "likes", which in some ways is just as good as a comment. You did well!

Hopefully my next hunt will be April of 2020. Starting the planning already!

Thanks all for your remarks, I guess I was just concerned with the input from the first report compared to the second, 375 ruger I did not see that. That’s a lot of views. Thanks again fellas!

Brandon looks like you had a hell of a trip. Wouldn't worry about how many comments or likes, you just posted as well, give it time, 1550 views ain't bad! I did enjoy reading your trip, and jealous over the eland burgers lol!

Keep the reports coming sir.

In terms of selling the story, there is no news like bad news.

On my side, I have rad the report with great interest. Both reports.
But generally on this forum, many times I restrain myself from commenting - mostly as I am newbie in African hunting, and my inexperienced views may hardly contribute to discussion on hand.

I appreciate the honesty, and having the balls.
To write bad report, a man must have the balls, and arguments, and be ready for eventual back fire, and then to keep the stand, or even to admit flaws or errors on his side, or be flexible to work out other solutions if suggested. Many times the situations is not black & white, and sometimes it may be hard to admit it.

Many would just bite the tongue, forget about, moved on and never looked back, far from publicly reporting bad experience.

There have been some bad feedback reports here on the forum, and if not well argumented, generally the post (and author) could get bad reception, and very low to none support from the community.

Personally, occasional bad feedback report give me the taste of reality of this forum.

So, I appreciate your courage to speak up, honesty and your feedbacks.

Thanks mark, I always strive to be honest, and I want the hunting community to know... good or bad

I had a similar experience which is why I decided I won't do hunt reports anymore. My report wasn't exactly negative, I thought it had a positive spin, but it attracted a bit of unwanted attention on and off ah.com.

I think people enjoying reading the positive reports more but commenting on the negative. It's the way of the Internet.

On this forum it always seems that people comment in a supportive manner when someone has endured a veey negative experience. But, I won't mention blemishes in an otherwise positive event. I think it is hard to do that on a forum without drawing an indue amount of negativity for those small problems. And, that it is really not fair.

Posting a hunt report can be a real stress-inducer!

Especially if there is anything controversial in it.

There is another forum out there that I would NEVER post a hunt report in...would not want to have to deal with the inevitable crap-storm that would ensue.

Fortunately here on AH, 97% of the members are good guys and gals and you are not likely to catch undue grief.

As for the clique thing...some guys have been on here a long time and/or have a ton of experience and pretty much all the regulars read their threads/posts because they generally have something worthwhile to say (read some of Redleg's posts and you will see what I mean).

I think a person who creates a report thread wants to see as many replies as possible - makes him feel good.

That being said, all the replies are going to be a couple words each:
Congradulations
Good Job
Looks like you had fun
Cool
I hope I can do that someday

My opinion is viewers of the thread do not want to overload the thread with those kinds of comments because it looks silly and redundant to every forum member except the original poster. That's why I think you see a lot of the replies are from that poster's friends.

NOW THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOUR THREAD IS NOT DEEPLY ENTERTAINING AND APPRECIATED. As @LivingTheDream said, you have lots of views and it is something that someone can search for years in the future. I know you might be a little bummed you didn't get as many replies as you thought, but do know a lot of people liked reading and seeing the pics from your report. (y)

I see it on just about every forum I visit. We as humans, seem to thrive on, drama, and negativity, on the internet.

Sad but true.

Thank you for taking the time to lodge a report.
Good or bad report, does not matter. File the report.
We all learn from it.

I agree with what other have said. Just post your report, be honest and tell us good or bad what happened. Hopefully we all post nothing but gleaming reports on our hunts in the future.
