Dear All,
There is a hunting show in Shanghai 20-23 of June, I understand it's the first hunting show ever in China and it would be interesting to hear if any of you outfitters planning to visit or even if anyone are exhibitors there ? It's a new market and therefore very interesting.

All the best from Zambia,
Michael

Difficult to imagine much of a market there outside of Party Members.

I was supposed to be there, but a baby due on June 30th changed those plans. I have a few colleagues whom are attending and I'm curious to hear their reviews.

I can imagine a fairly easy sale! (or am I being cynical?)

There is enough of them in zambia already without bringing more .......behind all sorts of poaching in zambia......couple of them tried driving through police check at night and got terminated ....dead owls and think other small thing in their car.. they had been out shooting at night...... Bout says it all...owls and anything upwards..... as as far as I understand it's illegal for just about anyone to own a gun in China ...could be wrong but I doubt it . seems strange to have hunting show there.....so sorry Michael for being negative on your thread ....but not a chance.....

The Inner Party is more equal, comrade. The Party Members own the guns in China,

Any news or feedback from your friends on the show in Shanghai ?

Maybe some people need to update their knowledge about China. This is 2019 not 1959. Chine is a one party government with no interest in democracy but its economy is laissez-faire capitalist. Providing you don't challenge the government then you can pretty well do what you like. Its rapidly growing middle class is already much much larger than the entire USA population (probably has more millionaires and billionaires as well.) They have money and want to spend it.

Not sure who you referring to....but yeah I think we all know how China has gone.....but I stand by what I said.....maybe you need to come here or to anywhere else they have colonised to actually get an idea.......as its fine sat wherever you are telling us how things in China are......great for the capitalists there.....but people in usa ....Europe etc really have no idea of the scale of their "taking over " third world countries...... Or even how much of the first World they own.......so come here and have an eye opener.....

Pardon my ignorance, but is there any hunting open in China, either for visiting hunters, or for residents and locals?

Hey Spike. Don't get me wrong. I'm not acting as their publicist. Just pointing out that some of the comments seem imply that China is still back in the 1950s with mindless drones in Mao suits waving their little red books. The current reality is very different. They are cashed up and the nature of their economy means they seek ever increasing resources from whatever country allows them to. Having gone from feudal to 21st century in a generation virtually none of the behavioral checks and balances are in place. Countries ignore the danger at their peril.

Agreed, I’ve done a fair bit of business in China and sat on the board of a Chinese tech co. Within the broad constraints set by the central party, they probably do a better job at capitalism than we do. There is an unbelievable number of Chinese middle and upper class with money to burn. I pulled into a ski resort in Harbin. Every car was black and German, the skis and other equipment was top of the line.

This doesn’t in any way blind me to the damage they are doing in Africa. It’s like our industrialization period with far more mass and no constraints.

When in New Zealand there were a lot of Chinese tourist. It reminded me of the Japanese in Vegas.

I was invited to hunt in China. Hunting is restricted to the very elite. 99% of Chinese likely do not even know that there is hunting taking place. The farms in the north and west are massive, much larger than the largest farms in North America, more on the scale of Brazil. The forests along the Siberian border are huge. It stands to reason that there is still game in these remote areas.

Interesting! What species are huntable in China?

Deer and bear is what I was offered. I did not accept the invitation so I cannot provide any details. It is not something that is available to purchase.

Thanks! Good, to know!

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.
