So last week was my routine daddy/daughter trip and not wanting to go fight the crowds and college kids at a beach somewhere no matter what my daughter said she wanted, we headed out west from flyover country with a general idea of some activities.

Well, wouldn't you know that the plan took us right into the path of @CZDiesel and it was a good chance to meet up and hang out for a bit!

For starters, no matter how much I was warned in the past that meeting people online would get me murdered, I'm glad to say, that as I type this, I checked and was not, in fact, murdered. Even better is that he's a cool cat, and makes some hella good tacos! Boo boo gave Charlie some extra scratches too!

Was a nice evening and a great opportunity to hang out with someone I've chatted with quite frequently since crossing paths on here!

I also met someone from the internet, even from this forum. Completely blind, after just a few emails and phone calls and with my whole family. Not only have I hunted chamois with him, but the family want to visit him again this summer! :D
I mean, I have no doubt boo boo would be down for hunting more tacos in this case :D

I knew a guy on another forum only from the convos we had there. We live in the same town. Out of the blue he sent me a message and asked if I was available to go one a once-in-a-lifetime tag moose hunt as his partner had bailed. I thought about it for a bit and said,'sure.' I took a week off work and we went over to eastern Idaho and killed a great moose. First time I ever saw him in person was at camp 6 hours away.

@CZDiesel is a great guy. I went to the range with him once and was fortunate enough to be able to shoot a couple of his FINE rifles and saw his FANTASTIC collection of rifles. Work has gotten in the way of a repeat and much of anything else fun but that will change soon when I finally retire. I hunted with @Philip Glass's group on my one African PG hunt in 2022. And @JimP was in the group and both are great people. I feel very fortunate to have been able to know these people in person through AH. And I'm still standing so far. LOL

I have a very good friend who I met on the Internet something like 17 years ago. Some random Facebook page. Actually, I think it was through his younger brother, we were on some form of youthful fictional story role-playing. Regardless, he’s been a great mate for years. Friend for life! So, it can be done & done to great success.

It is a drool worthy collection, not gonna lie. What I might have in volume, he has in quality.

I’ve met several forum members in person and all have been easy to get along with, nice and knowledgable on many different and interesting topics. I have found the advice I’ve gotten from a few regarding rifles, cartridges and hunts to be spot on. I am thankful for the friendships I’ve been able to start via AH.

I will add the AH get together during the SCI convention has been a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow AHers.

Thank you @Rez Exelon , very kind words! I was humbled that you would take the time on your trip and spend the evening! It was a great time for sure…
@Rez Exelon and his daughter are great people in every way! Charlie can be reserved around people he doesn’t know or trust but he just loved Boo boo and was hanging out with all of us all night! After what Charlie just went through I think he really loved that they came to visit…
It has been really cool to have both @Rez Exelon and @CoElkHunter come to visit, I hope to meet a bunch more of you here soon! Hearing me @John the Electrician lol

I also was no murdered by @WAB during his visit in Rome, and when the family of @Altitude sickness visited me in my shop...
Indeed lovely people, was a pleasure to spend time with them. Hope in a future comeback. Our passion makes us a brotherhood, something I always feel with foreign customers at the shop. With many of them I'm still in touch after years.

Phil, thank you for hosting my family last August.

the Knife Gift from you was used on animals and birds last fall. Whitetail deer, rabbits, waterfowl etc.

If you are ever in the states I would be happy to be your host.

Heh nice.

My wife and I spoke online for about 12 months before I flew over (my first plane trip) to Oklahoma to meet her. Stayed 11 days, asked her out at a baseball game (after asking her dad permission to date).
That was 11 years ago now. Did 3 years of long distance (seeing eachother every 6 months) and got married after 3 years.

Met an online friend last November when in the states again. Mary, known her online only for 14 years. We had a layover in Houston for 28 hours so she drove out (2.5 hour drive) and we spent the day together. Highlight of the last trip for me, finally meeting her also.

Started talking to a couple guys online during my storm drain era. That weekend drove 3 hours, met up with em and within 15 minutes heading underground. Spent a few years doing drains with him. Haven’t seen him in probably 10 years now since he moved outta state. Met a heap of fellow urbex folks from online.

Yet to have a bad experience meeting someone online.

Seems the only ones I meet are people from Nigeria trying to get me to help them get money out of their country....

I met @BeeMaa and his Wife - very nice people and I’ve been able to shoot Sporting Clays with them a couple times…..Good Folks here on AH
