We all know, mono bullets of lighter weight will penetrate the same as a heavier lead bullet, because they don't shed weight. But 250/260 grains, I believe is more to satisfy velocity nuts.
So, I did some calculations. Barnes bullets generally gain .001 in BC for every grain of bullet weight. So using the 270 LRX as a base, the 285 would have a BC of .464.
In my 23" .375 Ruger, I can push a 300gr to 2700 (not needed though), so I estimated the 285 at 2650 with a 150 zero.
50yd- 2552 +0.37"
100yd- 2457 +0.90"
150yd- 2364 0.00"
200yd- 2273 -2.46"
Ok, so maybe I got bored. I still think it's a good idea.
