That's what I've heard if I understood correct, I literally just got the call today it was in. I was at an outfitters this past March who explained the Halt on Sako's 500 upon research, I thought it was a loss...Let us know how it shoots! I almost bought one pre-COVID, but put it off too long. Now it sounds like they’re about impossible to get...
That's a fine looking big bore, good for knocking down big bull elephants and small apartment blocks. Beautiful rifle. Like to see a few more pics of the wood.
If you decide to mount a scope...the Sako 85's have a tendency to have the ejected shell impact the scope turret and fall back into the loading gate causing a jam. I've heard of people who have turned their scopes 90 degrees counterclockwise to prevent this from happening. Although you will need a scope with no turret on the left side and a reticle that will look OK once rotated.
@TOBY458 had this issue and he rotated his scope. I do not have any personal experience with the Sako brand, but they look to be very nice rifles.
Let us know how it shoots.
Why would someone make a video with a scope electric taped onto a rifle, with the extra high rings sitting on top of the scope bases? That is just a wee bit ridiculous.
To prove a point that the echo chamber of the internet is often ridiculous. Why would someone make a video with a scope electric taped onto a rifle, with the extra high rings sitting on top of the scope bases? That is just a wee bit ridiculous.
I fail to see the point of listening to a guy pontificate on a rifle he has never ownedFrom my time here I would respect the opinion of BeeMaa, before someone who makes a video of a scope electric taped onto a rifle ejecting cartridges that have not been fired. I fail to see he proved any point.
Sako A7 is a push feed action with button ejector, so it doesn't have the same action as the 85. The 85 has a standing ejector in the 6 o'clock position, which sometimes ejects the rounds upward into the scope, rather than out the side as intended.I have a sako a7 never had any issues in ejecting rounds
Funny thing is, I just got my trophies today. The hole in the Buffalo skull from the 470 is a reminder of this very same hunt we are discussing here.....That was the @TOBY458 Buffalo rodeo ? It didn't sound like much fun. Made for a great story though!
