Loading for the .404 Jeffery and .375 H&H, I have several powders (IMR 4350, N-150, Hybrid 100, etc.), but would like to try 4064. Have loads for IMR 4064 but the only 4064 I can find is Accurate 4064, so I bought a couple pounds to experiment with.

What I would like to know is... can I use starting loads from the IMR4064 loads as a reasonable starting point for my loading? Is the AA4964 faster/slower/more temperature sensitive?

Your advice apprecaited.

I am interested also as I just bought an 8 pound jug of AA4064.
On the burn rate chart, only Norma 202 is between them with AA4064 being the slower one.

Yes, as starting loads. With proper workup you will be fine doing that. The 2 are very close to being the same. The AA4064 is a bit shorter grained and should meter better in your powder measure.

Same here, got 2 lbs of the AA as Midway didnt have the IMR. Then a day later they had both, but now just the AA again so will give it a go. Everything I see indicates its just a tad slower than IMR.

Great! Many thanks!

Rurn rates vary widely from chart to chart. I use several and try to average them out when comparing powders.
One thing to remember is that a powders burning rate is not constant, it will change depending on the specific application.
The chart above shows both the 4064's on the same line, while all the other charts I have show the AA to be a bit slower than IMR.

Nevada Mike, what sestoppleman said is true, I use several like I said. The link I showed you is used for quick comparisons only. Burning rate charts are not to be used by themselves for load development, but rather as a starting point for comparing different powders.

Thanks for posting the link to the powder chart... it lists many powders that I don't see on others. I printed a copy and put it in the front of my loading binder.

My Accurate 4064 is a bit slower than my IMR-4064 paired with 150 grain bullets out of a .30'06.

Do you mean less velocity when comparing the same amount of both powders, or that the BURN is slower?

Less velocity on the order of 180 fps but, may be different with different lots, components, and etc.
