In The Blood. A Kenya Safari movie released in 1989 with some interesting historical elements. Teddy Roosevelt and some of his descendants. Teddy's double rifle that a bunch of folks get to shoot. Robin Hurt is the PH.

You can watch in on Youtube but the quality isn't all that good. I enjoyed the movie enough to add it to my collection. Bought it new off EBay.

A great film.

I am always leery of films on youtube. Most are not authorized by the copyright owner else they would have posted it themselves.

Great movie, which I also downloaded for my library!
Watched it few times.
I wish there are more movies like this.

Pity Kenya has gone to shit.....hunting wise anyway.......

This is a reality that the anti-hunting crowd cannot get its head around - that Kenya was much more populous and diverse with pretty much ALL animals while hunting was thriving. All one need to do is look at the black rhino population in/near Tsavo before the ban and 10 years after.

I have seen some amazing old buffalo on the laikipia plateau - and there are a surplus in this area. $1000 a day to stay for a week, $5000 license fee on a dozen old bulls a year could put one hell of a lot of money into the local economy and plenty of meat to use... but alas...

The setting of this movie was actually in Tanzania, on one of the Moyowasi concessions That Robin Hurt held in the 1980’s.

Great movie, I bought it in VHS format when it originally came out. While I no longer have a VHS player, I still have that movie. It’s well worth watching.

Another great movie, albeit much more rare is Bloody Ivory which is about David Sheldrick and the conservation down in Tsavo. David was a former PH. His then wife Daphne setup the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (after David died) that still fosters orphaned animals and also assists the KWS.

I just sold my Rigby in 275 Rigby to David Sheldrick’s grandson…small world. He shared a picture of David’s beautiful Rigby in 416 Rigby that is beautiful…oh the stories it could tell!

Great film, I lost my copy years ago. I need to get another. I recently recommended to Kevin Peacock he buy a copy.

Wow! Roan? Taru?

There is a scene in Bloody Ivory where David puts a wounded bull out of his misery - likely with that 416.

I don’t know them personally but those families are woven so deep into the fabric of Kenya/safari. Neat people.

Thanks for the info about this movie. I haven't seen this one. Also, it tells me that Sheldrick Trust supports sustainable use? When I look at these organizations etc on social media, it is hard to tell who supports hunting because most don't come right out and say it anymore. They just say things like sustainable use. Many don't even say the sustainable use of Wildlife. It makes knowing who to support and/or donate to very difficult. Is this movie on YouTube? Thanks so much! Sue

Watched it on U Tube. Thanks for the heads up. Really enjoyed the movie.

There is no sustainable use condition in Kenya, which is where Sheldrick Trust is - there hasn't been legal hunting since 1977. Support for hunting in Kenya among those in the safari industry there is largely kept behind closed doors it seems.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.
