Inside the Life of a Gunmaker: J.J. Perodeau

Probably the best gunsmith in the U.S.!

Great video. For those who do not understand why many Americans such as myself voted for Trump, this man is a shining example as to why. He immigrated to the US, did the proper paperwork, and contributes to society and the rights outlined in the Constitution. A welcomed person to society and God bless.

He is one of exactly two people in this country with whom I would entrust a fine double - rifle or gun.

Thanks for sharing the video.

I am fortunate that he is not to far away from where I live. A great way to spend a morning or even an entire day is in the Champlin gun vault. Even browsing their gun vault over the internet is fun.

Great video. Wonderful to hear from a man so passionate about his work. I hear only good things about him.

Thanks for sharing.

Super video

Looks like a nice guy that does excellent work.

@Red Leg is using a bit of hyperbole. There are at least three qualified double gunsmiths in this country, not two!

;-)

Seriously though, I think there are legitimately 3 claw-mount experts in this country: Guenter, JJ, and Mark @ NECG. Not a lot of skilled workers left in this country.

Msr. Perodeau claw mounted and re-regulated a new Merkel SxS, caliber .375 H&H that I once owned.

He did so at my request, in order that it would then accept a little Leupold 2.5 power scope and so it would group well with 300 grain round nose bullets, softs and solids, at 2400 fps.

When the rifle returned, it looked as if it was made at the factory, with claw mounts in the first place and it shot about as well as anyone could expect from a double rifle by any maker.

In the event that I ever need work performed again, on any double, single shot or combination gun, he is definitely the fellow that I will ask to do the work.

He's not cheap but, nowhere near as expensive as having some mediocre person, do clumsy "work" on such a special firearm.

The difference in being a "Gunmaker" verses a "Gunsmith".;)

I saw you were looking for some Swift A-Frames for your 9.3. I just bought a bulk supply of them in the 285g. version. If Toby's are gone, I could let 100 go for $200 shipped you are interested.
Thanks,
Gary

Booked with Harold Grinde - Gana River - they sure kill some good ones - who'd you get set up with?
