This does not surprise me, as we fit a lot of suppressors & with the lathe that we use we can not fit the complete action through the tail stock.
Also you don't see a lot custom barrels fitted to A & X bolts as they have a super fine thread that galls, worse with Stainless Steel & made worse again by the thread locker that Browning use.
We have done 10s & 10s of them & just last week two X Bolts in one day, now two things made one of these extra hard, one came off Ok & the other when I was taking it apart I noticed that ALL the screws on the action, mounts & rings had been I think Super Glued instead of using thread locker.
This is made much worse with the X Bolt as the mount blocks are held on with 4 screws 2 in line so 2 points of gluing or sticking, sure enough it striped that part of the thread out, seeing as it is a known problem we have dies nuts to clean up the threads, A Bolts are slightly less worrisome.
I suspect if you had a very competent Gun Smith take off & refit the barrel, Jesse may still do it ?
PS I sure wish I could get a couple of my barrels to him, been trying for many years now as I don't do the shows any more I can't drop off & pick up & sending to or back is not a option in the last 10-15yrs .
