I was able to purchase 2 Left-Handed CZ 550s, both cambered in 375 H&H about 2 months ago. The plan was to have the one with the best-looking wood re-barreled into 404 Jeffery and the other one I was going to get a synthetic stock and have it cerakoted to make an all-weather type of rifle. Well, the 404 Jeffery project is moving right along. The synthetic stock project has hit a snag. My gunsmith has not been able to get a synthetic, left-handed stock anywhere. Well, that isn't actual true. He can get the stock from McMillian but they won't inlet the stock so I am stuck. Do I keep trying to find a solution to getting a synthetic stock that can be properly inletted and installed for the barrel and action or do I just cut my loses and try to sell this rifle? I already have a Model 70 Safari Classic in 375 H&H that I am quite fond of and don't think I need to 375 H&Hs that are wood stocked and blued. I am open to suggestions and look forward to what the fine folks here on AH have to suggest on the matter. Thanks

Thanks for the replies. I’ll check with AHR and Bell and Carlson to see if maybe they can point me in the right direction for a synthetic stock for my rifle. If anybody else has any suggestions they would be most appreciated.

I am in a similar boat - I purchased two LH 550’s in 375. I want a matching pair in 375 HH and 458 Lott. I intend to use the walnut stocks but I would really like a 3-pos safety like my Winchesters and it is proving a near impossible task to find someone that will make them for the LH CZ550. Please let me know if you come across any.

Just curious, whatever happened to the two LH CZ 550s you were working on?

@Big_Easy, I’ve still got them. The 375 H&H that had work done on it by Griffin and Howe before I got it is still a 375. I wasn’t able to find a LH synthetic stock I liked for a price I was willing to pay. I’ve shot a few deer and pigs with it here at home. Haven’t taken to Africa, yet….

The other one is now a 404Jeffery. It is currently at the gunsmiths getting the finishing touches like barrel band swivel, open sights, the swivel stud removed from the stock, etc… Just getting her shined up so to speak. Both of these rifles are actual duplicate calibers for left handed Winchester M70s I have as well. At some point I may try to sell them, maybe.

Well let me know if you ever think about selling either the CZ 550s, or the M70s. Depending on price I may be interested.
