I thought some might enjoy seeing pictures of some of what went into a lifesize White Rhino we mounted. I did not get pictures of the whole process but enough for everyone to get the idea.

Heath, Thanks for sharing pictures of the process, quite interesting. What a mount to have at home!

Very impressive...Thanks for sharing!

Heath that certainly looks like a big job! I was told that most of the guys today that are doing mounts of there Rhino's are using Reproduction horns and keep the reel ones in a safe or just in a safer location. do you find that to be true? Your pics give a good idea of how much work goes into a mount like that. Chainsaws instead of exacto knives..

Bushbuck, yes generally the hunters do use reproduction horns on their mounts. But have had a few who do like this client & put the real horns on the mount. I always offer first to mold the clients real horns & cast reproductions of them to use on their mount just because of the value of the horns. But in the end I always leave it up to the client and do whichever way they want.
The only place we used the chainsaw was on the back hips. The rest of the mannikin took less work to make it fit and involved more hand detail.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
