Lion Attacks Riders on Horseback Safari

Wow, yeah luckily there is not a bad ending to this video!

At least one guy had a rifle.

Holy, and that cat seemed to turn, and run from the downed rider. Very fortunate.

It seems the cats just wanted to chase the horses. When he saw the man down he just kind of turned and went toward the horses again and then just quit. I’ve read that the big cats are a bit confused by the biped human shape and don’t really know how to attack it. Maybe this is evidence of that? Or maybe Eli was just not enough meat to worry about!
Regards,
Philip

Makes you think twice about riding Horses in Lion country.

The Lions posture when Eli stood up was telling.
The poor lion had never seen part of a Zebra fall off before.

Eli was toast if that cat really wanted her for dinner.

Part of a Zebra falling off.

That's good stuff!

absolute no canter when lions arround. And no running.
One of the rules from our guide last year in Botswana.
You can do that by elephants, not lions.
Its difficult to see why the guide was falling down.
No bucking horse,normal canter-movement.
But in the saddle, it goes so quick to kiss the earth.

Extremely lucky indeed. From the one angle you can see how quickly the rider was all alone.

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.
