I never saw a Bald Eagle in the wild till about 20 years ago. Now I see them rather often. There is a mating pair about a mile from my cabin and another mating pair about a mile from my house. The two pieces of property are 208 miles apart. The pair near my house never leaves. The Detroit River seldom if ever freezes over and as long as the Eagles can fish they'll stay put.
I grew up in East TN where there was an eagle hacking tower on my uncle’s property near the Hiawassee Refuge. Always cool to see the new eagles learn to fly. Never gets old seeing these majestic birds in the outdoors.
