Just curious if anyone has had to store their luggage at JNB for a couple of days? When I go over in August, I will be in Natal for the first week, then I was heading to Zambia. Now, I got an offer to come back to the Northern Cape to visit some friends there for three days. I am trying to avoid having to haul my main luggage piece and my SKB double bow case for that three day trip. I was wondering if there is a "Safe" place to secure them at the airport?
When I googled it, there were some that said you can just leave it at the airport hotel. Just pay them $10 when you drop it off, tell them you'll be back in three days, then pay them another $10 when you return for it.
I've stayed at the hotel there several times and have had no issues, but I've never let them hold my luggage for any length of time.
I also read, during my search, that there is a place you can pay to store it, but it's a 50-50 deal at best on how secure it actually is.
Thoughts, suggestions?

You might want to contact Henry at riflepermits.com. They will store firearms at Jberg airport, so possible they would store your luggage. Enjoy your trip.

If you are hunting in the RSA, contact your safari company or your friend and let them pickup and store your case, if at all possible.

If not, use autofire's advice.

Bows are probably not a big deal with the police at the JNB airport. But the "Fererales" can and will slow you down when you need to get your case and go. If you are the type who begins to try to "reason" with them, be prepared to wait a couple of days...

I have no clue about who or how much to start giving $ to in that police station. If you are in the same situation, I would contact Henry...

I do know, that if you think raising hell with the police will speed the process, then prepare to pick up your bows on the return trip.

Just take it all with you and have peace of mind that nothing is being stolen.

Take it with, or give it to someone out of the airport.

I've been through there numerous times, so the getting in and out I'm familiar with. I've never had a problem with the bow case at JNB or Kimberley, often times it comes out in the oversize luggage area and I grab it and go.
I was just trying not to haul it on two more flights than I had to. My PH is South Africa won't be able to hang on them as he'll be three hours south on the day of my return trip from Kimberley back into JNB before catching the Zambia flight.
I may end up hauling them with me, who knows, maybe I'll get to bloody an arrow while I'm there.

That's a wrap, on our first hunt of this years season.

Hunting conditions are a bit tougher in South Africa during the month of February, but can be just as rewarding if done right.
