Mauser 25

This is news… wonder what this will be.

Such a strange description though : “Whether on the rugby field or on the hunt…”

What does rugby have to do with hunting? A line of optics perhaps?

This guy in Saskatchewan claims to have one already, a .22 cal AR style gun with extended magazines. He posted his ad four months ago. Maybe Trudeau and company haven't had time to put it on the banned-to-sale list? Or maybe a scammer?

Official launch date is January 28th, but what do we know so far about the Mauser 25? Is this going to be a replacement for the M18, or more of a mid-range rifle like the M12?
New rifle will be announced on 31st january as per their site.
In the meantime, we can guess.
Replacement for M12 or M18?
Introduction of new modular rifle (like old M 03)?
High end push feed?
High end straight pull?
Semiautomatic for hunting.
SIngle shot?
Some hybrid rifle, like Sako S20?

Some of those can turn to be direct competition to some rifles of the same industry group: such as straight pull blaser r8, modular rifle like sauer 505, or semi auto such as Sauer 303..
The question is: what the group Sauer-Blaser-Mauser does not offer yet? Or is it just simple replacement of some of existing models?
That would be my guess.

What it will not be?
It is not going to be medium priced CRF rifle, available in DG calibers.

Good questions, Mark. The R8 is so popular that it pretty much tanked the M03 (I have two), and they’ve got the high end pretty well covered with the M98. Always liked the M12, but that offering is really getting small. Don’t know…. higher-end synthetic to replace the M12, while they still make the cheap M18? Fun to speculate.

M12 was o my short list for general purpose hunting rifle, together with sauer 101, sako 85 and CZ 550 at the time. Finally I took Sako 85 (30-06), of these 4.

M18, when getting my hand on it in a gun shop, does not feel right to me. Too much basic. No feeling for it. Just another push feed in a plethora of other budget push feeds around.

If my heart does not feel full, when I handle a rifle, it is not for me.

I've never handled the M12, but I liked the idea of the M12 pure with iron sights. Like you, I probably would have taken a Sako 85 instead. Doesn't matter, both are becoming pretty scarce.

The M18 seems fine, but I wouldn't chose it over some of the other offerings the same price range.

I wonder if this new M25 will incorporate some switch barrel capability, as I think that is pretty popular in Europe.

I hope it’s something needed , like .375 , .458 and other safari type cartridges and not one that is not to find . And a action that works . Mauser won’t send out things to be published before that date . They may send out things , but nda I think behind the non bragging about it .

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
