Sometimes, a now or never - situation appears........

Exactly this happened to me, and I did the shot, in front of egun.... "the German Gunbroker".

I won an auction for an obviously pre WWI Mauser M98 in 11,2x60 Schuler, made by Otto Bock, Berlin.

Old, worn out, heavily used, but still in original condition.

The gun hopefully will be delivered next week.

No ammo, no cases, no dies, no bullets, no reloading data.... but I am wildly determined to bring it back to life.

About Bock there, fine rifle you got there.

Whether the rifle can restored to life or not, it's a piece of hunting history which deserved to go to someone like you that values it for what it represents. Kudos Sir.

That is a treasure!! I owned a somewhat similar rifle a number of years ago (had the 3/4 length stock), and before I could get it up and running I found a fellow with a Lindner (Empire grade) that loved it more than me. If the bore is good, you can get it running again.

I read your thread about your rifle and thought, it is pretty much the same.

But your's was a 11,2x72 Schuler, wasn't it?

Did you shot the buffalo you announced?

Yes it was, but no, I never took it to Africa.

Hope you update as you go along!

Cases can be made from 458win.mag, lathework is involved. Bullet diameter is ..440". Loaddata-never seen..

I saw this one on egun too. Good luck with breathing her back into life @GuttormG ! Looking forward to reading about the progress :)

Congrats on your rifle. Enjoy it!

had this restored about 25 years ago ...Paul

Good luck with that classic! Looks like Robertson lists brass for it.

Best regards,

no I never hunted it , thats the only bullet that was in the trap when I got the gun

My Sauer double rifle is marked on the underside of the barrels 11.2x60r.
Could your rifle take a rimless version?

Your's is, I guess, the rimmed version.

Mine is the rimless version.

What was the use for the 11,2 x60 Schüler, DG?
Also how much energy does it deliver from the muzzle?

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.

Do you have any more copies of African Dangerous Game Cartridges, Author: Pierre van der Walt ? I'm looking for one. Thanks for any information, John buzzardhilllabs@hotmail.com

Out of all the different color variations of Impala the black Impala just stands out with its beautiful pitch black hide.

Impala is one of the animals you will see all over Africa.
You can see them in herds of a 100 plus together.

This excellent ram was taken with one of our previous client this past season.
