Hi!

I´ve been on some hunting trips in South Africa but have - till now - only plains game displayed as shoulder mounts.
I like the idea of hunting giraffe, such magnificent creatures... but I´m allready running out of space in my rented appartement in the city...

Are there any ideas to mount a giraffe in a space-saving way?

Just do a full rug... For the floor, and a wall.... And maybe another wall;)

Hm, could look kind of weird...

You can put a lot of curve into the neck on a floor pedestal shoulder mount.

Here is a picture of a pose @billc had considered for his mount. If you really wanted it smaller you could cut the bottom of the form off right below the junction of the neck into the shoulder. Loose the tree, and make the base smaller. Might take a lot away from the mount but hey it would still be a giraffe mount. You could also go after a younger still yellow and smaller giraffe. Might also be cheaper than a big old black stink bull.

Another option is a skull mount. And keep a couple leg bones for lamp stands or something. There have been some pics posted on AH of such things done by other members.

I have seen a few shoulder floor mounts. some look better than others.

It depends on where in your house you plan to put it.
I have seen a shoulder floor mount designed to fit in a corner and it was stunning with some vegetation added to it.

I have seen where the shoulder floor mount was designed to be displayed in hall ways.. it was a matching set for both sides of double doors.

Another nice floor pedestal mount was designed to over look a recliner or chair.

I went with the floor rug and you will find it difficult to remain flat, and not create a tripping hazard. So it is becoming something else now.

Thanks for your ideas!

Will be quite difficult.... appartment is way too small for displaying a giraffe from neck to head. The walls are simply not high enough.
There are no examples for maybe the skull displayed in a nice way?

Think I have to move into a house someday...

Seems like I remember @pawprintsafaris posting a pic of a skull, but I maybexpect wrong? Putting it on top of a flatskin of some sort might be an idea?

house idea is great.i did a simple floor mount.

Uh WOW!!!!! What a beautiful mount. If I ever get a giraffe that's exactly what I want.

I like the pedestal with curve mount, thats really something. I'm afraid if space is an issue a flat skin might be the only option

Thanks for the great ideas, but it´s all way too big...
Next problem is getting the mount IN my appartement building, the last trophies I had to unpack on the street because the crate did not fit through the door.... I´m living in the city center and many people passing by called me murderer and much worse names I don´t want to repeat here...

You might look to do something like TCI show cased at 2015 DSC.

http://www.tci.co.zw/toiles/

I have Dennis Harris doing a Tahr - he calls them demanske vs. toile term that TCI uses. Something where you circled the hide starting wide into the middle and then had the head sticking out - king of like a rattle coiled up could look cool.

Dennis has some zebra demanske posted on here to give you some other ideas.

I borrowed the picture above, but you could get the head turned and the rest of the skin could be loose.(y)

That was actually a really cool concept and @tarbe and I discussed how it could be turned on a wall and hung horizontally as well.

I think it can work, if you are space challenged. I seriously will consider it!

Enysse,

That's the picture I was thinking of. My thought was if space was an issue, Dennis has done some of the zebra where it was a cutout of africa and then the head aligned in it. That could look pretty cool with a giraffe as well.

Not sure how to link to the other thread but if you search on Zebra Demaske it comes up.

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
