This is a bit brief, and more of a quick report than a review, but I wanted to express what an outstanding hunt I had in Namibia with L'wyk van Vuuren. The hunting was superb, and the knowledge of L'wyk regarding the game and animals added to the quality. Most of the time was spent on his very large family ranch in northwest Namibia. There was plentiful game, including leopards, and cheetah. My hunt was for plains game, and I harvested everything I went for, including eland, kudu, gemsbok, black wildebeast, red hartebeast, sable, lechwe, and springbok.
Adding to the quality of the hunt was the graciousness of L'wyk and his wife Julene. She is a superb cook as well as host, and the food quality was outstanding. Most of the dishes were prepared from the game we harvested. If there is one drawback to the hunt, it is that the food is so good, it is hard not to leave having gained a few pounds, despite all the hunting! The van Vuurens have an active ranching operation, and for me this just added to the experience. To see how the cattle, sheep, and goats survive in those harsh conditions, and what it takes to raise them with all the predators around was an education in itself. The staff was friendly and very competent. From the outset, I felt like part of the family, rather than just a client. In fact, getting to know the family, (including L'wyk's hardy and friendly mother) was very special. The operation has very comfortable accomodations at the main headquarters.
Along with the hunting at the main ranch, L'wyk hunts also in the far northwest in massive concessions, as well as in the famous Caprivi Strip of northeast Namibia. One of the aspects of hunting with @Leopard Legend Hunting Safaris, is that you will be hunting with L'wyk himself. His determination to find exceptional animals and make the hunt a success will be obvious from the outset. In addition, he and Julene were very helpful from the outset of booking the hunt, to make sure everything went smoothly in getting to Namibia, and back. I couldn't have hoped for a better experince, and am looking forward to another hunt with him in 2025 in the Caprivi.
