I just got home from New York and got some terrific news: my new Jaguar F-Type R coupe is ready for pickup tomorrow. It will be replacing my Jaguar XKR as my main car. Anyway, I will hopefully have a full review of the car and some pictures up tomorrow.

Well, as promised, I have a full review of my new Jaguar F-Type R coupe. Now before everyone bites my head off, I would like to mention that I am leasing it as a "company" car. It has a 5.0 liter supercharged V8 engine that develops 550 bhp and goes from 0-60 in 4.0 seconds. This isn't the fastest car I've owned but it's the fastest Jaguar I've owned. My choice of coupe over convertible may surprise some, especially in the great Florida weather, but if you have ever has to drive for a while in the Florida sun, you will see why I want a coupe. Plus, I'm an absolute speed freak with access to the homestead speedway, so the roof makes performance so much better. Like all Jags, this car has impeccable steering and the absolutely best breaks ever. It also has a great engine noise, but what separates this from the other Jags is the ridiculously over-the-top roar and pop that comes from every acceleration. It is louder than most motorcycles and I honestly think it might be a little too loud. the suspension is pretty damn hard, but has not become irritating yet. The interior is sportier than I am usually used to. I would prefer more leather and classic seats. The infamous Jaguar lurch when stopping is still somewhat present, as well as a little bit of pull to the right, which I'm hoping will go away with some driving. This problem happened when I got my XF and it went away after a little driving. Besides these few complaints, this car is immaculate. It's biggest competition are the Porsche 911 and Mercedes SL-series. While the Jag is not as technically precise as the Porsche or as powerful as say the Mercedes SL65 AMG, it is my favorite because of its personality. There has always been something about Jaguars that has made them my favorite car, even in the face of arguably superior cars. I do think that car personality is the most important thing, especially in a sports car. The personality is why I choose to drive Jaguar, also because they may or may not be clients. Any way you look at it, I'm supremely happy with the car and I cannot help but smile every time I accelerate. I'll try to get a picture up ASAP.

Enjoy your new bolide! The coupe was a great choice...

Congrats Saul,,always liked the looks of Jags,,their designers don,t seem to be influenced by Japanese or German designs

Looks like it will float longer than the Jag.

As it happens Brick my boat was built by some of your countrymen. Built for the US Navy by Mason Boat in Ontario. Smallest contract the Navy gave out for these 26' Whaleboats, its one of about 53 I believe.

Sorry about hijacking the thread Saul.:o

I read your write-up, but have some questions.
is it 4-wheel drive?
Are you having a gun rack installed?

Ha! It's rear-wheel drive and I think it's gonna be a no on the gun rack. Sorry to dissapoint.

If I wanted all that, I would get that Ford F-250 V10. I'm pretty happy with my V8, though.

Those both sound like pretty fun cars. I've always liked the Lincoln.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
