I didn’t make it to DSC and was wondering did anyone stop by Leupold booth and look at the new Patrol VX6 1-6 FireDot Duplex Non CDS that is coming out this year? Specs on it looks good. Just wondering if anyone saw it

Saw the thread and thought you were selling one...haha. In the market myself for something similar to this. Been eyeing the Swarovskis that have been popping up lately as well.

I have a VX6 HDi 1-6X, which has CDS... pretty much useless on a DG scope. This scope is fairly large and a bit heavy. I do like the Firedot, and have it set up by the Custom Shop with a No. 4 reticule. I was going to use this on my .404, but decided the 1" tube VX3 1.5-5X would work better.

If the new VX6 Patrol 1-6X is lighter, smaller I'd like to try one.

I have found one minor problem with the Leopold VX5 and VX6 line with the CDS turrets. If one were to have to resight in the rifle ionce arriving to your destination, you have to make sure you carry the tiny Allen wrench with you if not it'd be impossible to readjust your elevation adjustment!

I thought the exact same

Edit: not sure why the quote feature is kicking my butt…but this was referring to KMG’s post of thinking it was a for sale ad

Another reason I wanted to try it. Non CDS
Weight is 16.2 oz.

New VX6 Patrol 1-6 FireDot has arrived.
Hope to get it mounted on 458 Lott and let you all know how it does in next couple weeks.

I'd be interested in your opinion. Looking for the 'right' scope for a DG rifle.

Will do a report when I shoot it in. Will be a couple weeks tho. Have surgery on Monday and be out of commission for about 10-14 days.
I have the VX5 1-5 CDS on it now. But wanted a non CDS scope with FireDot.
Looks like this will work.

What happens if you "misplace" the "tiny" Allen wrench? FUBAR I guess?

Good luck on your surgery Mark and Gods speed with the recovery!

You can still click the turret to position without the extremely common hex key. I can’t imagine that ruining a hunt. Can you?

Maybe not, but "if not (having the key) it would be IMPOSSIBLE to readjust your elevation adjustment"? Poor design?

I don't think you can do that with the zero stop if you want to lower your bullet impact!
True, not with the newer zero stop models.

Honestly the first time I removed a CDS turret I wondered the same thing.… where will I be when the screws fall out? It has never happened however. I have used three extensively over the years and have come to love them. They are relatively low and don’t snag on branches or gear like other brands taller turrets. All aluminum so nothing to crack or break. I have never needed to adjust one before a hunt. Get it locked in and leave it alone.
…. I guess I may have to adjust if I remove my suppressor or travel somewhere where I can’t use it. I would definitely do that prior to traveling however. Can‘t envision needing the tool directly before I hunt.

I believe in Murphy's law whatever can go wrong will go wrong and it's always been luck it will go wrong at worst possible moment!

I really am looking at ordering this new vx6 patrol for my 416 Remington for a future trip to Africa. I think when you're a traveling hunter simpler is better!

Well, either/or, I've never owned a scope with a CDS turret, but after reading a lot about others who have them, I'm inclined to eventually purchase a scope with that feature for my .338WM. Something in a 2x10/12 range for a LITTLE more distance shooting. Of course, this would be for non DG.

For the CDS scopes. Most of my rifles that have that scope on them also have a nylon 3 round buttstock ammo carrier on them. Those are my first 3 rounds to load in gun. Under that carrier I have Allen wrench taped to stock. Just my little insurance I always have one handy.
This scope I hope works well on my DG 458 Lott. My 375HH has VX5 2-10x42 CDS on it and the CDS has come in Handy in the Kalahari last trip

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
To much to political shit, to little Africa :-)
Spending a few years hunting out west then back to Africa!
