Greetings to all! Found this site while trying to dig up some bullets for my 416 Ruger. Been into guns since I was 14 (a LONG time ago). Hunting days are pretty much over but I still crave the smell of gunpowder. Big into reloading, currently up to 14 different calibers. Retired from the US Army after 25 years service, went to work as a government contractor in the Washington, DC metro area, and retired after another 28 years in the grind. Wife and I bought a multi-generational house and are living with my older son and his family. Love living with the grand kids! Got interested in big bores a while back. Messing around with a black powder flintlock rifle and percussion pistol. I'd love to communicate with all members of this forum. Best wishes to all.

Welcome to AH!

Welcome.

I got my first ticket ever in Haymarket, on Rt15 just after the bridge over 66. This was in 1991 when there was almost nothing at that intersection.

62 in a 45 at 1am…still bitter about that..;-)

Welcome to AH.

We are in Alexandria and frequent Bull Run for shotguns and Elite Shooting in Manassas. Always fun to light off a big bore at the rifle range and watch the heads turn.

Welcome to the AH community, and thank you for your service to our country.

welcome, a treasure trove of information here. I spent a summer in near by Front Royal back in the 80’s. Great area back then. Also spent a lot of time farther south as both of my parents are from Virginia ( Waynesboro and New Market ). spent a lot of time wade fishing for smallmouth and sneaking up on mallards and black ducks on the Shanendoah . Also shot a few geese and swan down on the Rappahanick.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
