Howdy folks,

I joined the forum today, never hunted in Africa but not new to hunting as I have been hunting moose, deer and small games since my young age here in Canada.

I'm in the very early stage of planning a hunting trip to Africa in the next two or three years and I came here to get more knowledge about it. I would probably start with something pretty basic such as a five species plainsgame safari and go from there.

I'm in my mid-30's, married with no kids, I speaks English and French, I like motorcycles, bulldogs, shooting, off roading and the great outdoors in general. I have been working in the Canadian Army for almost 20 years, I served in Germany, Bosnia and Afghanistan as well as some domestic deployments.

I can't wait to read your posts and learn from you guys.

Stephen

Thanks for the warm welcome Jerome.

I forgot to mention that I have family in South Africa so it would probably be my hunting destination as I'd like to combine a hunting trip with visiting relatives.

Stephen, welcome to the forum, I am actually starting a trip to RSA today partially thanks to this great forum. Lots of people who can help you get that first trip off the ground. Like you I have been in the Canadian Army for 25 years and served in Afghanistan, Congo and Haiti. Any questions at all, feel free to send me a PM. Aussi, je suis capable de parler en francais.

Welcome Stephen! Pretty friendly place here, please ask any and all questions you have.

Welcome to AH.
Just came down from hunting Vaalies at 8600 feet in EC and thought I would stop by AH before dinner.

Glad to see another Canadian joining in. You can hunt anywhere in southern Africa and take a short skip or jump to visit family in RSA.

Good luck planning.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
