Nitro Brass .450/.400, .500, .470 & .360

I unearthed a few pieces from an estate I am parting out. Please message me if interested in part or whole lot

As most of what you've pictured is old berdan primed brass, it is unusable for most reloaders. For someone looking to have some old cases for a cartridge display they would be useful. But these calibers are not rare or unusual. You might want to adjust your pricing; just a suggestion. GLWS

As @Woodcarver stated these aren’t useful to anyone. I have no idea where you came up with your pricing but 100 BRAND NEW rounds of 470 wouldn’t cost $1400. I just Purchased a lot of 5 of 450/400 and 470 for $45.

Typically, berdan brass, in good condition, brings about $1 per piece. This is provided the brass is in good condition with no issues (no neck cracks. bulges, major dents, corrosion, etc).

It looks to many views as though some of this brass is not functional. Good to know. I therefore may just try to sell the live cartridges. If that is feasible - shipping them may or not be wise for a total of 5 pcs. I summary, thank you for your input.

@proud_man's_contumely I don't normally go around on people's threads telling them they aren't pricing their stuff right, but from what you wrote above I think you didn't mean to make a fool of yourself, but your pricing is off by 10x-20x and has zero chance of selling.

The boxes you have are collectibles if they are in decent condition. So is the brass. The loaded bullets, also collectible. But that means small-value, not the price of a rifle.

3 weeks ago I sold nearly identical kynoch boxed and loaded ammo on this forum. They sold for $40ish-$50ish per loaded full box of ammo. I've seen pristine, truly mint, fully loaded, BOXER primed examples sell from $75-$125 a box in these varieties of calibers.

The brass is worth a few dollars each separate, and its purpose is to drill out and customize, nickel plate, and turn into snap caps. It's of a type not used for handloading or reloading in those calibers.

Unfortunately, you haven't come into possession of things you can sell to pay for a trip to Cancun.

Nonetheless, welcome to AH and we hope you have a good experience. Who knows, perhaps the next thing you list for sale will be a grand slam.

I came to different terms on this stuff. Im asking 75$/OBO for the lot. Call me crazy, just add the shipping charge. I have several RCBS dies in Nitro .450/400 as well as .577

If I may suggest sir, list a fair price for the RCBS dies, and specify the case length. The 450/400 Nitro cartridge is fairly common, and currently popular in 3" dies, but older rifles are also chambered in 3 1/4".

There is some demand for both, the 450/400 Nitro Express 3,1/4" being rarer.

In .577, Nitro Express, cartridges are commonly 3" cases, with a few 2 3/4" cases loaded.
This is from Pierre van der Walts " African Dangerous Game Cartridges", as well as John Taylors " African Rifles and Cartridges".

I have owned a 450/400 Nitro 3", but not a .577, though I still want one.
