This is currently my favourite bow.
Made by bowyer Johan Van Der Merwe from Combretum Bows in South Africa.
I found a lovely solid dark heavy block of wood whilst on vacation in Mozambique. It was cut into a long rectangle.I bought it for R100.
I,at the time did not know what I would use it for, maybe a knife handle or 10.It lay at my house for around seven months. One weekend I went to visit Johan at his farm in Rust De Winter. Here he showed me his very first prototype take-down recurve.Right there and then I knew what wood would be used for the riser.Johan collected that block of wood from me and made me a great looking bow.The wood of the riser looks like Mozambique ironwood.
I originally had it made with 52#limbs and later had a set of 80# made for buffalo and giraffe.
The limbs in the pics are the 52# ones.We have also changed the finish on the riser to matt. The pics are from when I collected the bow originally.
