Here is a female Ostrich on her nest laying low to the ground… Do you see big bird?

Here's one where the ostrich also took some blood from the hunter.

My son Grant when he was 7 years old with his first African trophy. Gonna use the hide to make a pair of boots for him when he graduates high school in 2018. Good Times!

This thread is likely to set off @Hank2211 's PTSD.... :E Excited:

What is the import status of this I to the US?

What is the import status of this I to the US?
Importation of Ostrich feathers into the United States of America is becoming more and more difficult due to the Newcastle Disease Virus in birds found in South Africa and the outbreak in the Avian influenza in Asia. It is not impossible to import feathers into the US however complication may arise upon entry and importation may be refused. The importation of tanned Ostrich skin has not been affected.

I had a look when Jerome first posted, and then ran away from the computer. Only now just got back the courage to take this on.

Jerome wasn't being very sensitive when he posted, was he? I mean especially those pictures of the Ostrich just appearing out of nowhere... And the eggs.... All those eggs.... They just never stop coming, no matter what you do....

She must have been a high class bird! :E Big Grin:

Question to those who have taken ostriches, how did you display your trophy? I would love to see some leather crafts, taxidermy projects, etc. Also, any rough description of the hunt? I imagine they are wiley.

Avoid head shots..can get expensive.

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.

Do you have any more copies of African Dangerous Game Cartridges, Author: Pierre van der Walt ? I'm looking for one. Thanks for any information, John [redacted]
