Great check list. Have a wonderful hunt.

Whoa!- that looks almost identical to my layout. Have a good hunt!

Enjoy your trip. Post some pictures along the way if you can.

A few cloths and a credit card and you are away.

Enjoy your hunt.

Best of luck on the hunt!

Nice. The 1700 is a great choice for your double. Here is my 1750 set up for the rifles I am taking on my fast approaching trip. I have had the case since 2004. I just got some new foam for this trip, and I also replaced the O ring, as the old one was pretty dried out.

I have never owned a pair of gaiters. Are they necessary? Do they protect against snakes? Please advise. This is my first trip to Africa.

Been there 2 times and saw one snake. 1st trip was 12 days hunting and the 2nd was 25 days hunting. Not going to say they are not needed but my PH and myself did not use them either time. I "personally" do not think I would worry too much about them but all of that could depend on where you are hunting. If you are concerned I would ask the outfitter/PH.

The gaiters are not to protect you from snake bites but merely to prevent grass seeds etc getting between your boots and socks while walking in the veld(field). Enjoy your hunt!!!!

How are you guys cutting your foam? It looks much better than what I have done on mine. Where did you get the new foam?

I ordered the replacement foam from B&H Photo.

I have always cut foam with a razor knife before, but this time I tried a new method. I bought a heated foam cutter from Amazon for $20. It is basically a soldering iron with a really skinny, wire-like tip. You just plug it in and stick in the foam. It literally cuts like a hot knife through butter. I traced the outline of the rifles out with a Sharpie marker first.

I draw the line around the items, and use a razorknife and cut it stright, very easy when the tool are sharp.
