Maybe I missed something? Looks like 9 animals to me?

Still looks expensive.

Cost for those not trying to do the math.

#1 26,280 = 3,446 USD
#2 45,000 = 5,900 USD
#3 59,500 = 7,800 USD

Price does not look out of line and one would have to make contact to see all the in's and out's of this package.

This package is pick up drop off at the airport and PH services...

Price looks fair to me. Even at 9 animals its a good deal. I did the math on the exchange rate when I first looked at the offer and thought it was good. Just not the number of animals.

The going price on the 9 animals, taking the eland is R14,000. This means you are paying
R45,000 for lodge, guide and food. That still seems expensive to me. One can stay at Sabi Sabi or Phinda, 5 star resorts for less.

Ok now I am confused? Are you saying his animals are 14,000 Rand for all 9? That's like $1800 total? And 45,000 Rand for lodging etc... $5900??? Floping those numbers would be way more accurate! An I am just doing the numbers off the top of my head!

5 out of 9 of those critters sell for R500, 2 sell for R700, the balance are the wildbeest, around R3000, eland R7000 give or take. A trophy kudu would be R5000 instead. A warranted kudu
62" and above goes for R10,000. That leaves the bulk for 7 days of lodge and catering, that is expensive in my book.

As a side note I don't sell animals, I buy hunts. These are average prices I pay. Had many last year less than this, most wildebeest I paid for (12) were R2200. I got 3 kudu at 59-60" for R3800 each. A bulk special on blesbok was 10/R4000.

On the Kudu

I am fencing 2 more farms .

If anyone can get me Trophy Kudu at R5000 , please mail or phone me . I will take at least 100 animals . For over 60" I will also be happy to take all at R10 000 each.

Thanks

saeng101,

Please could you send me the details of the places you hunted for those prices so I can go and shoot some animals for myself.

I think you are not using the correct exchange rate?

1 South African Rand = .1318 US dollars

With that exchange rate and your animal prices
5 of the nine animals sell for 500R = $65.90
2 for 700R = $92.26
wildebeest 3,000R = $394.40
Eland 7,000R = $922.60
Kudu 3,800R = $500.84

Oh please do tell me where you hunt if these are the prices you are paying to hunt in Africa. I will call and book a hunt now! And I bet so will several other people on this sight.

These are the going prices of the farms between Hluhluwe and Pongola with the exception of Kohrs in the Biosphere (Jonzini.) There are many but Leukop and Harloo are the biggest selections. Brits at Bayela is good for wildbeest. Peter Freese at Bayela sells kudu by the size, 3 at 62"+ last year, 10k. He is also very good for the rest of the plains game. Spacing out the farmers name, Bokie, leave Pongola towards Condover, right side about 8 km out. As you are local visit the KZN Hunting website, new offers all of the time.

Captured and delivered is always more than shot but call Ally Robins brother Will, we buy a lot of critters from him

Some names above, at least 400 farms in the area. If you want really big kudu a good choice is always in the Phalaborwa area. Good Farmer is "Roi" Piet Oosthuizen out of Gravelotte.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
