So I was at a local shop today that would be best characterized as a ranch supply store. All kinds of things from hardware/tools to clothing/boots. Including a reasonable selection of guns. They also have a small selection of reloading components. Not where I'd go for this, but I was there and took a stroll through that part of the store. To my astonishment there was 2 or 3 lbs of H4350 and a number of IMR powders available. I actually need anything and so I didn't buy any. But I was wondering what others are seeing in regards to powder? Does it seem to be loosening up in your area?

The Cabela's in Central Ohio has had quite a bit of powder on the shelves for several weeks. When I was in last, there were a couple of 8 pounders and multiple one pound containers of IMR 4350. There was also IMR 3031 as well as several other powders. Nothing I needed though.

Was in a local spotting goods store on Mon. They had a good selection on the shelves. Bought 1000 primers 2 weeks ago. Bruce

The ammo companies are worried after the elections because the gun control scare issue it mute. You hear a lot about gun control and abortion before elections but very little after.

Getting better in my area, NW Washington state. I asked for some Power Pistol the other day and the owner said you just missed the shipment, all gone. One of the sales guys overheard and said hold on. Went in the back and got me a pound. He bought two for himself, but sold me one. Pretty decent. A lot better than 6 months ago.

Getting better here too.

1 lb limits or 0 available in my area here in Minnesota,,the ammo shortage has made re-loading popular all of a sudden

Not that it matters much to you guys in Nth America, but things have improved quite a bit for us down Under too.

Ironically, over the passed say 18 months or more, I managed to get quite a bit of R15 into my stash, which is an American powder during a period where Australian powders (A.D.I) was almost non-exsistant.

Now it seems that A.D.I is back on line and into full production it won't be long, at least for Aussie shooters, where shelves are once again replenished, at least with the A.D.I range.

Again yesterday in my local gun-store there were numerous 1lb canisters of R15, R17, R22 as well as others.

My biggest problem these days is brass, for odd-ball calibers that I seem to have some sort of mental attraction to

Let us know what caliber brass you are looking for. Someone on this site may have it to sell or give you, especially the big stuff!

Brass and Bullets seem to be EZ to find with the exception of 200 gr 375s

`Last time I was able to sneak awasy to the gunsport , I got smithie to put away 2x r/l 22, 2x r/l 15 , and 2x 2206H all one pound containers .
so, l will see next Thursday ,if they are still there .......
all I need then will be a stack of cci 215 primers .
so things seem to be on the up here at the moment .

Locally here in Texas(Houston area) there are more rifle powders available, pistol powder is still very scarce. I received a case of H4895 from Grafs a couple weeks ago. It was my favorite for several calibers before I switched to Varget. It's on it's way to being my favorite again!!

For me it is depending on where I go to or what I want. Primers are all over the place now and there is no problem finding what you want. Powder on the other hand is still quite scarce. I did come up with some H4350 last spring but the rest of the Alliant powders that I have been looking for are nonexistent. I still have 10 lbs of what I use but I could shoot that up in a couple of weeks if I get real ambitious. I don't even look for pistol powders anymore and quit asking for them at the counter, I got tired of being laugh at. I am down to about 2lbs of Unique for the handguns.

So for someone who is just starting to reload I'm curious as to how many folks buy powder online vs. In store. It seems that online is getting fairly back in stock? I know I don't know what I don't know... I get the haz mat fees, but it doesn't seem like it takes that much for the break even point though.

I have found a couple of sellers on line that by the time you pay the shipping and haz mat fees the cost almost equal out, but it is still a little higher on line. But if you need powder and can't find it locally you need to buy it where you find it. But buying on line I would never just purchase 1 or 2 pounds of powder, I go with the 5 or 8 lb jugs of it and if you have a friend that needs some too then the haz mat fee drops in half.

I just got a little lucky,,I did a catering event for a New Gunstore a while back and recently purchased a 22 for plinking. I made a deal with them I supply them with the occasional Muffin or Scone and they put away 500 rds of 22lr when the get a new shipment

I just scored 5 pounds of Reloader 22. Had to special order it at a local store (Houston). Took a couple months, but finally showed up.

In the meantime, I found a really good load for my May hunt, using IMR 7828....so now I am in a quandary!

Good problem to have, I guess!

A man can never have too much powder, unless his house is on fire!

And you can never have too many bullets, unless you have to carry them on your back!

My rule of thumb regarding powder, primers and bullets is, if you use it and it is a decent deal, buy it before it disappears.

I know....I am part of the problem!

Best bet for buying powder on line is to order enough quantity because they can only charge once for a HAZMAT fee

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
