They are edible, but not the tastiest fish. kind of a texture thing. Anyone have any ideas how to catch one on a fly rod? these things live in my neck of the woods and I have caught some on a regular rod and bowfishig, but haven't been able to figure out how to get one on a fly.
I see no reason why a wad of tangled thread or string would not work with fly tackle, as long as it was not so large as to drag in the air too much, when casting with your fly rod.
As for fly fishing, I was just talking to the guy at the Orvis shop here and he claims that they have caught a few on rope lures but only small ones. The little guys are very aggressive so I could see them taking a lure but the big ones with the way they feed it would seem hard to do and the water is usually pretty dirty
which Clark hill lake are you talking about? I have one close to me in sc!Ugly damn things. They use to grab the sun fish I caught on Clarks Hill lake when I was a boy. Got to where we would shoot the things with a 22.
