Mounted a new 2.5-8x32 Leupold on my old .223 Contender and will get her sighted in. Going for groundhog next week.

Good luck.

FUN!

Replaced my 28 year old Thompson Center scope with this one.

It's even a while since my last 'hog hunt, so I'm looking forward to getting back out.

Shoot them up.

Best of luck, sounds like a blast!

MS Hitman, I haven’t had my old Contender out in a very long time. I have a stainless bull barrel in 30-30 and a 22LR. A fairly new Burris 2-7 scope on it. Now that you have reminded me of it, I’m going to have to take it out and play with it.
Thanks!

Sounds like fun. What bullet are you using? I use a 40 gr Hornady Vmax in mine. Works great on groundhogs and prairie dogs. I've only shot one coyote with it and it ran about 75 yds. Blew up without much penetration.
I like your choice of scope. I need (want) to replace the current Weaver 2.5-8X.

I'll be using 50 grain Ballistic Tips. Some of those whistle pigs can be tough. I've seen them drag a pile of guts back to the den hole.

Ridgewalker, I have a 2-7 Burris on my 309 JDJ and it is pure death on deer with 150 Ballistic Tips. Took it to South Africa and used 165 Grand Slams with great effect.

My suppressed 22/45 for up close work around some houses. All I had at the time was the 2x Leupold to mount on it.

Just pegged this bugger out at about 110 yards yesterday with my CZ 527. .223, 60 grain Hornady backed by RL7. He was probably all of 15 lbs. One shot through the shoulder and down he went. Good luck! They are great practice in the off season.

Took this one at the mouth of its den at 40 yards.

Got another at 193 yards, and will post the photo when my hunting partner emails it to me.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
