Good day members. I believe all is well and good on your side?
I have some time on my hands while working on different projects. I am still engaged in finding reloading components of all the off-spring calibers based on the 404 Jeffery/10.75x 73 caliber .I will use the 404 Jeffery brass I currently use to shoot my 404 Jeffery fire forming this brass to fit all the off-spring calibers I want to build ..these calibers are not "wild cutter calibers.)
I have the following calibers in line to build as a rifle when receiving all the re-loading components and reamers.
1. 338 Imperial Magnum (Aubrey White from Canada )
2. 9.3X70 ( Skiwi gunsmith from Berlin for , Herman Goering Hitler`s General. )
3. .458 African ( Pierre van der Walt)

I would like to hear from any member who has another off- spring caliber directly from the 404 Jeffery..please keep in mind ..these are not wild cats ..but calibers solely based on a 404 brass .
This is for great discussion purposes..I am in the process of ordering reamers and gauges for the .458 African caliber as well. I spoke to Pierre van der Walt today.
The African Dangerous Game cartridges book is going into print this month .. if there are members who wants to order this book we can contact Pierre van der Walt to make up an order for the forum members as well.

This is the book I am referring to , if there are members who is interested in buying/ordering the book from Pierre van der Walt .

The Remington Ultra Magnums
No,these cases are blown up , not standard 404 Jeffery case ..these calibers were invented after the Imperial Magnum caliber company went out of business due to the Argentinian company could not deliver the cases and the quality of the cases for the Imperial Magnum by the Argentinian company were of poor quality..the RUM and other calibers started up just after the downfall of the Imperial Magnum concept.
Chad Adcock will be able to tell you more about his designs.

PeteG , thank you kindly, will do some research on the .333 Jeffery..would like to add this caliber to my future builds based on the 404 Jeffery case..
PM me your WhatsApp number and I’ll send through a few bits of info that I have from when I had my 333
Just arrived in the luangwa for 14 days so may be a bit spotty with replies and signal.

The .333 Jeffery is on my list to build, I am currently completing the 8x68 as well as the 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser. Then I want to do the 9.3x70 mm build as well.

280 Jeffery
Thank you IvW, much appreciated. It looks like a similar caliber and barrel burner as the 6.5x68 Schuler ...small bullet very fast muzzle velocity...I think I will skip this one and keep to the .333 Jeffery since it is a large case and heavy bullet , just how I like the calibers to be...I tend to stay away from the "barrel burners"

Any of the Dakota line of cartridges. Many to choose from.

Mike, this is what the difference is between `a 404 Jeffery case standard as it is...the cases in the RUM and Dakota lines are all cases blown out , this is not the Imperial Magnum line as I pointed out...the 404 Jeffery case as is , is what I am building calibers on...the 9.3x70 and the .458 African as well as the .333Jeffery is 404 Jeffery brass use as is in standard form..all the other calibers is blown out like the RUM and Dakota calibers...they all came from the Imperial Magnum design..but has been altered into different cases to design these other calibers ..but not the as a standard 404 case ....all being altered ...

Here is a good explanation :
404 Jeffery case are the Remington Ultra Magnum (RUM) cartridge family, which in turn spawned the Remington Short Action Ultra Magnum (RSAUM) cartridges. Also, the Winchester Short Magnum (WSM) and the Winchester Super Short Magnum (WSSM) families are believed to derive from the 404 Jeffery case.

Subject: Print run - African Dangerous Game Cartridges

Gentlemen
Good evening. I hope you all are well. I apologise for the delay in this matter, but I had to attend to urgent matters abroad. I am back in the country and will now proceed with the print-on-demand within the next 3 weeks. Please advise your remaining interest at your earliest convenience. I have requested a new quote, but do not expect a price change. I will keep you informed. If hunters in your circle are interested please have them send me orders with the names, tel numbers and email addresses asasp. I am now going full steam ahead and time is of the essence after the delay you had to endure.

Some interesting developments as an aside which I share with you as friends:

  1. I was awarded the illustrious 2023 John T Amber award by the US based Gun Digest group. I did not even know that non-Americans could be contenders.
  2. I should complete the page design of my next book, African Small Game Cartridges by the end of July. It is a bit of a slog with my other commitments and evenings without electricity or water, but I am getting there. It consists of chapters on:
2.1 Barrel Life

2.2 Ballistic Co-efficients

2.3 Suppressors

2.4 Optics

2.5 33 Cartridges active in Africa with which I am acquainted: 17 Rem, 204 Ruger, 22LR, 22 Hornet, 222 Rem, 223 Rem, 224 Valkyrie, 22-250 Rem, 220 Swift, 224 African, 6x45 Kimber, 6mm Musgrave, 6mm Creedmoor, 243 Winchester, 240 H&H NE, 6mm Rem, 240 Wby Mag, .250-3000 Savage, 257 Roberts, 25-06 Rem, 257 Wby Mag, 6.5 Grendel, 6,5x54, 6,5y57, 6,5x58, 6,5x55, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6,5x57 Mauser, 6.5-284 Norma, 6.5 PRC, 264 Win Mag, 6,5x68, 6.5 Wby RPM

I have the DG cartridges book AND the Medium Game book and am waiting to see if a book covering .30 cal to 9.3 cal appears.

The Dangerous Game book is worth it's weight in gold... loading advice and more that I could find no where else. (y)

Mike , I agree , this is a great book as is the medium bore book as well..I would suggest to members on the forum who is interested in acquiring these books to communicate to visiting members that will be visiting South Arica in the near future in regards to bring these books with them back to the USA where they can courier it to members who want to purchase these books..since it is just too expensive to ship the books to the USA .

Mike, Pierre is currently busy compiling the .30 to 9.3 cal book

The .400 Tembo? More of a concept cartridge I think, and I don't think more than a handful of rifles were ever built.

It was 'invented' by Kevin Robertson and an Ed Something from a company called Velocity USA, IIRC.

A 404 case necked down to accept .400 bullets, which would allow for cheap plinking. Perhaps it was also shortened just a little.

I think I read about it in his book "Africa's most dangerous".

Members, thank you for your input, it is always great to see members participate in a discussion. I am keeping to a 404 Jeffery case in the upper part of the calibers with heavy bullets like the .458 African , 9.3x70, .338 Imperial Magnum and the .333 Jeffery . These four calibers will be the rifles I want to build for myself .
