As the thread title suggests, has anyone had experience with mounting an express/leaf sight on the rear receiver ring? A bit like the Brno integral peep sight but obviously a leaf and most likely mounted to a scope base of some type.
All the benefits of an express sight but with the longer sight radii from being mounted at the rear.
Don't quite know why I am asking as the way my right eye is going open sights will be a waste of time lol.
I do realise unless permanently fixed it would have to be removable to fit a scope but that isn't exactly an unheard-of event either.

The V type express sight is out on the barrel for a reason... Far enough away that your eye can (mostly) focus on the notch and the front sight blade/bead. For a receiver sight the aperture type is far superior and easier, because the eyes need focus only on the front sight.

No no you need to sell or swap that Express sight to a fella fixing up Old BSA Lee Speed Sporters, its just the right thing to do :)

But yes only really mounted on the barrel, now a nice Diopter, Aperture or Peep Sight is very good on the receiver, more so as eyes go a bit ?,

NECG. "Anyting yoo want!" lol

Haha @Sarg know what you are talking about but in this case it was one of my growing list if p14 sporters and not using the sight you are referring to.
More like an adjustable almost flat leaf right at the rear.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
