Reloading powder AR2209

Has anyone experienced difficulty in obtaining AR2209 reloading powder in Australia?
It’s an Australian powder and for some reason it’s unavailable at the moment.

Dr Ray, I think that is the same as our H4350. If so, it is use massively by 6.5 Creedmore competition shooters. We have shortages on and off as well here in the US.
It was so bad the last couple of years that I started testing alternatives. I’ve changed to H414 in my 243, 30-06 and some of my 375 H&H loads.
If you can find H414 (Winchester 760), you might try it. Also Vitavouri’s N-150 and Norma’s 204 are similar.
Good luck in your search! It can be very frustrating!

I picked up a 4kg drum only a couple of months ago. No shortage at that time. You may be experiencing a local problem due to the transport regs and distribution issues.
p.s. H4350 is AR2209 relabeled.

AR2209 in 426 Remington magnum produces a lot less pressure for same velocity.
I could use AR2208 but much prefer the 2209.
Incidentally I had a 243 that I could not get to produce what I call acceptable.
I tried w760 w785 du pont 4350.
They produced reasonable groups and the 4350 tightened the groups significantly. I even changed primers and Bullets and you name it.
I went to AR2209 and the groups were quite acceptable.
I used 2209 in 270s, 7 mm Remington magnum; 300 win magnum.
I personally found the AR2209 is a fantastic powder overall.
I’ll stick with it!

in fact ar2217, (=h1000) is probably better again for the 7mag, with 150+ gn bullets in mind.
2209 is good for the 270 with 110 gn and less bullets, but 2213sc is better with 130+ gn bullets.
reloader 22 will give 180 gn bullets in the 300 win mag 3000+ fps with sane pressures in sporter length barrels. (24")
2213sc is also good for this cartridge.
these recommendations are for achieving the same velocity at less pressure than with 2209, or more velocity with the same pressure.
but do not let speed alone be your only guide.
probably the 2 main influences on accuracy, assuming you are shooting bullets capable of it, and your bedding and barre and scope mounts etc, are ok, are charge weight first, then seating depth.
after that comes primers, which can make a smaller difference, and then neck tension, even smaller.
neck tension might not be an option in a hunting rifle, as you need enough for reliability.
coal must obviously allow magazine use as well.
bullets that seat below the neck/shoulder junction can interfere with potential donuts that might form in that area.

Powder supply has been an issue in NSW due to dangerous goods transport requirements, apparently
I would look at either bigger stores who may have an offsite inventory or storage facility. I think there are restrictions on the quantity that can be stored in most built up areas.
I believe a lot does go overseas for Hogdon etc and Bloody Creedmores apparently! Just when i had what i need they bring out a new hotshot.

you are going exactly the wrong direction in burning rate.
your 7mag using 2208 won't equal a properly loaded 280rem.
300 win mag using 2208 won't equal a 30/06 using 2209 with 165+ gn bullets.

Dr Ray, I used Winchester 748 in my Winchester 243. With 70 Gr. SMK bullets it was an absolute tack driver. I'll try to dig up the recipe, if I find it I'll send it along later. The last match I shot with that rifle was held in 1995.
