Good afternoon All,

I have two very special Remington rifles that I am looking to sell. I would prefer it if these went as a package but I’d entertain offers for one or the other separately. I’m asking 11000$ for the pair plus shipping.

First up is a Remington 725 in 375 H&H, this is a 1 of 37 rifle that Remington made as safari rifles. The rifle is in great shape, it has been hunted with as recently as our trip to Africa last March so it is not pristine. Having said that it is a very nice rifle. It has the factory slotted muzzle brake that Remington put on all the 725 safari rifles that were made in both 375H&H and 458 Win. If you would like to see more pictures please let me know.

The second rifle is a NIB, still in cosmoline paper Remington 720 30-06 award rifle. This was presented to a Navy officer at Camp perry back in the 1970s who kept it with the original box and sling until he sold it to my dad about 10years ago. My dad traded it to me 2 years ago for some other guns. This rifle has never been fired, it has one small blemish in the checkering on the right side of the forend but I don’t think you will ever find a new Remington 720 like this one. Let me know if you would like to see pictures of this one.

Holy heck, never thought I would see a Rem. 720 Navy Trophy rifle for sale on an African hunting forum. Those guns can bring a fair amount of money to the right collector. Very few 720's made it to the civilian market, I have only seen 2 other 720 Trophy rifles in person and they both belong to the same person and neither has the original box.

The 375 is wild in that it looks like a push feed but it retains the Enfield style safety. The other is one of the early Enfield style Remington Mausers and very nice! Is it stamped anywhere on the 30-06 where it was made? It looks very similar to the sporterized Enfield that came out of the eddystone plant purchased by Remington but I believe all of their plants manufactured same once upon a Time.

They are nice rifles, both enhanced versions of the 1903 Springfield and Enfield rifles. They, along with the 721 and 722 are the evolutionary steps that created todays Remington 700. You may never see another 725 Kodiak for sale and probably the same could be said for the 720 in this condition.

They are of superior quality to today's or yesterday's Remington 700 push feeds. The 30 ought 6 is exceedingly similar to the very first weatherby's as well. The weatherby of today still retains the Enfield style safety. Does the 30-06 feature a stamp where it was manufactured?

The 720 was an updated 30-S. It is a controlled feed action with modern stock dimensions.
The 725 was an upgraded 721. it is push feed. It was replaced by the 700 which replaced cut checkering with stamped and some other short-cuts.

You are correct on the 1917 evolved into the model 30 which evolved into the 720. However there are many more differences between the 725 and 721. Triggers, safety, bottom metal, magazine are all different between the two. The safety on the 725 is actually a pretty amazing setup with a set of cut and stamped gears that mesh together to actuate the safety in the trigger housing. They were shooting for an upscale version of the 721 but it end up being an evolutionary branch that started and ended with the 725. The 721 was too cheap and easy to make for them to want to pursue the 725 any further.
