My international flights from the US to Africa are on Qatar Airlines, which includes a several (6-8) hour layover in Doha.
Rather than spending all my time at the airport, I am considering doing some sightseeing and most likely some souvenir shopping.
I have questions:
1. Is there somewhere I can safely store my luggage at the airport while I'm out sightseeing and shopping?
2. What is the custom in dealing with the locals? i.e. Is haggling required, as is South America? Or is it common practice to pay the "shop" price?
3. Any recommendations as to the best places to shop and places to visit?
4. Is it offensive or customary to tip at restaurants and drivers?
5. Has anyone traveled through Doha with alcohol in route to their safari and did you have any problems?
Any helpful information will be greatly appreciated.
