A good friend gave me these yesterday, they will have pride of place in the (planned) man cave / trophy room.

The one on the right looks like the one Teddy wore to shoot lions with the Big Stick......history there for sure.................FWB

Thanks Gents - I thought you'd like them KP.

FWB - agreed - one could dispense some good medicine wearing that one ;)

The one on the right has some style and flair. Mine is an old military issue. Basic style as on the left.

Wow

If the one on the right was mine, it would have to go back to africa for at least one safari.

Good friend indeed and fabulous gift.

Thanks all.

@Frederik yep he is a great friend and has been the source of a number of very thoughtful gifts, including a reprint of an old Manton & Co catalogue.

@BeeMaa We actually have Chital about 5 hours drive from me - so one of them might just get on a Chital hunt one day ;)

@shotgungibbs love the den - so many great looking dens / trophy rooms / man caves amongst the AH crew - the best place to look for inspiration on mine before going to Pinterest (y)

That is a good friend, and I am certain that you are thankful for his friendship and generosity.
Very very cool. A true pith helmet, while often garnering guffaws, is actually pretty damn practical. Light, airy, sun-repellant…
Indeed. True story -- my straw hat finally wore out and essentially fell apart while we were haying in the hot sun. As I wouldn't be able to make it into town and buy a new one for another week, out came the pith helmet. Wetted down the canvas cover and was back in business!

Maybe we need a pith helmet day at BGRC. We could even call it "pithed again"

I'm thinking that one could well be suitable headwear for the first weekend in October

Maybe we need to introduce a 'best dressed' award.
