our local gun shop has a 500 NE Rigby on consignment with and extra set of barrels in 12 gauge along with forearm and 33 empty cases and 34 loaded soft points and solids total. this gun looks to be in 100%. I do not see a mark or blemish on it and the bores are beautiful it also has a mercury recoil reducer installed. I do not have any pictures on it as I am in no way connected to the sale of this gorgeous rifle, the stock has fantastic figure all the way forearm also. I wish I could take it home but if I did I would not have a home. price is 20,995.00 and I believe the are trying to make 2-4 thousand on the sale, I was told by an employee they turned down 15,000.00 the other day. it is located at So Dak Sports in Mitchell So Dakota 605-996-0316 if someone could work a deal on this they would get a beautiful rifle. give them a call and I am sure they can do pictures for you. good luck and good hunting Jim Higgs

Current Rigby or Original

I have no need for a .500 N.E. rifle, not to mention can't afford $20,000. BUT I sure would like to see some photos.

sorry guys, I know nothing about doubles and if you want more info contact the seller So Dak Sports at 605-996-0316 I did not know they made any in Calif. I do not know if that rifle is priced right or not.I was told the owner is not able to do any more trips with it, it does have nice color on the frame. I do not know the age but it is pretty.

California Rigby had a turbulent time, of many kind that gives a lot of page results on search of them, and not a " true " Rigby they were.

When you see one in the shop, how to make difference between california rigby and true rigby?

If you see and handle the original, you will know. The shotgun bbls might be a tip off. Of course if you want further proof look at the proof marks.

If you are saying they were a true Rigby....then no the doubles I looked at were ...well not going to give my true opinion as people on here I think own them....I looked at the 450 double they made for the sci auction....on Merkel action...and watched as someone who was having a look at it closed it...I noticed the cross bolt didn't slide all way in...salesman did and subtly pushed it in as he too k it off the person without him seeing it....it went for low price in the auction compared to what the company was touting it was worth ....at another sci i remember walking past their big booth..and stopping briefly to look at a double on a plinth...salesman came up and said I bet you wish you could have that don't you...thought arrogant prick....and as was when I still had my rigby sidelock I had made for me ...Iooked at him and said no...I have a proper one ... ;) :A Thumbs Up:

Not that kind of true rigby, the other one. I think best comparison was like someone else said, dont remember where or who. Anyway it was somethibg take a Ferrari and let Kia build it and fully mark it as a " Ferrari". Though everyone clearly see its not one .

Paso Robles Ca. is imprinted on the barrels on photo 11. Doesn't mean that all of the photos are from the same rifle.

these are from the same rifle as they do not have any other doubles and they do not deal in high quality rifles as this one is they figured they could make a good fee for selling it and they are the 2nd shop it has been at

just wondering has anyone purchased this rifle, yesterday the shop said someone was sending a check but would not give ma a name

I can’t promise that some of these aren’t duplicates, but I called and got pictures to post. Hope this helps someone here.
Definitely a Merkel action. So it's one of the California "Imitation Rigbys".

For an American made double rifle, I'd much rather have a Butch Searcy.

just curious because I know nothing about the quality and value of doubles so can someone please advise me on what this is worth?

well since no one answered my question about the value of this rifle it must be $18,500.00 as someone purchased it for that amount

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
