Well it was time do do something with the flower beds on the back of the lodge. They looked aweful, had drainage problems, and attracted rattlesnakes. Sooooo, my son and I went to Home Depo in Amarillo. 130 7”x4”x6” blocks, 20 bags of compost, a pallet of pea gravel, various drip line stuff to tie into the sprinkler system, and $600 worth of plants later we headed down to the ranch. We had to rip out the old overgrown plants and weeds, build the retaining wall, put 8 full skid steer bucket loads of good ol Texas Top soil, rebuilt the drip lines, put weed guard down and viola, new raised flower beds. I had several old ripper blades in the scrap metal pile and picked up some small gypsum rocks for decoration. I think they turned out well.

We took a break Saturday evening and ran into the Turkey Hotel for steaks, cold beer, and live music

Good work and looks like you earned the beer.

Looks Great! How many miles did you have to go to get 8 bucket loads of top soil? Ha Ha Ha . Is that a Yeti cooler on the porch? You can come do mine now.. I have a brown thumb...

Did I ever, it was over 3000 lbs of bricks and at least that much in bagged gravel and compost. I’m sore as crap now.

Finishing touches always matter.

Very nice, however how is this going to keep away rattlers?

Keep working. My wife ensures I never run out of work.
Plants stuff and then three months later, dig up and shift!

It won’t but at least now it’s more open instead of huge overgrown weed infested butterfly bushes. So theoretically there is less cover to hide in and one should see them easier if they are there so you don’t get a surprise.

I would have thought all those crazy roadrunners you have there would eat young rattlesnakes?

Bob is living high class now!

Looks great, hope it makes it through that mild panhandle summer!

Texas top soil? Did you bring a front loader down to that gate to the SW and load up that Texas size cow pie?

Steaks at HT....yum!

I don’t know if my loader could have even picked that one up Phil. :E Scared:

Out of all the different color variations of Impala the black Impala just stands out with its beautiful pitch black hide.

Impala is one of the animals you will see all over Africa.
You can see them in herds of a 100 plus together.
