Well, in the right community, there's an Issue I had Recently with the 8&3/8's "S&W 500" with Ammunition from a respectable manufacture?, As I don't know if allowed to name here, however, anyone that had the issue would relate. A new cartridge was developed through them with an extensive write up on the advantages to the 400 grn "Mono Metal". Ballistics, trajectory, etc … Well upon firing 5 shots, "The Brass Would Not extract out of the cylinder for the life of me". It was taken home, tapped out, cleaned and just visually expected. I wrote the party as it was suggested that Stock revolvers are not bored, polished to exact tolerances, which meant, sorry? … I've considered someone above my expertise to look at this Firearm owned since 2003 without issues, to look at this prior to shooting.

Anything appreciated! … Tanks!!!

Out of curiosity was this the Long version of these loads or the shorter loading for the lever rifle ?
I have just located some 45 Colt mono-metal loads. But have not seen the 500 S&W loads locally. When I do find the Long version, I will try in my X-frame.

Hello sir. … I had to look here just now. … The "Long's were not available at the time I purchased these 400 grn Mono Metal" , as I just looked at their site and those are new to me. Either way, both of them are claimed acceptable for any S&W 500 Platform. ie the BFR Revolvers & Simths X-Frame Revolver. When I took these out to shoot, I loaded "one" initially in the cylinder. The Brass would not extract, as I thought perhaps it was a fluke. I filled the cylinder full and cycled the the remaining 4 shots, which was a bad idea. ? … Again the Brass expanded so tight, it had to be tapped out at home. Needless to say, not amused & haven't shot the firearm since. Cleaned the firearm, sent pics with an explanation what happened to the manufacture. I've owned the 500 since 2003 without fault, Hornady, Cor-Bon, Double Tap, & Great success with other loads from the manufacture in conversation. Their Respose: "Factory Firearms are not truly worked, or refined in Boring, Polishing, etc. And this can be the end result. Never experienced this, as their were no outside factors, ie temp, etc, that I could consider. The concept & ballistics of this round was impressive in it's description, however, if it's limits were pushed to much? … I'm stuck with 15 Rounds that i'll never touch.

Sorry, if this doesn't quite answer your question? … I was curious if anyone else had this issue?
Regards, Dan!

Thanks for the reply. It will be a few weeks, but hopefully I will locate some and try in my revolver also. I have no doubt they are loaded to full potential. And what is stated, can certainly be true regarding cylinders when reaching the high psi this are loaded to.
Too bad someone, could not pull the bullet and reseat with a grain or so less powder.

I will add, I had the same stuck case situation in a different manufacturer's revolver and cartridge, first 6 rounds fired. But, the cylinder boring was visibly off. Very Noticeable when compared side by side with same type of revolver. That cylinder was replaced by the manufacturer. Definitely not saying that is the issue with yours.

I've used extensively in my .475 L and .500 S&W. Never any problems. Taken Cape buff, lion with them. Never problems.

I have not been able to locate any of the 500 S&W loads. Though, I did pick up some of the 44 / 265 grain and 45 Colt / 300 grain. I will continue looking for the 500 S&W.
I saw 454 / 300 grain load, but have a large quantity of 360 grain hard cast. I think, I will get some of the 300's and try also. Specifically in the 4-5/8" Bisley.
