Hi Guys,

I`ve just got home from a Goat hunt in the scottish mountains and thought you might like to see a few pictures. Enjoy!

That's a fine billy there...probably a CIC gold i reckon.

shavesgreen nice looking goat , is that a suppressor on your rifle?

Jaeger, I'm not sure on CIC measurements for goats but he was 23-24" horn length.

Merlin, yes it's a Wildcat Predator 8 model. I wish I had taken it off now before climbing three hours up a mountain!! Great bit of kit though, it allows you to hear a distinct strike and you can tell from the tone where abouts on the animal you hit especially at extended range.

In the second picture you can see the herd of goats from where I shot, they stayed with the fallen billy until we approached. Anyone care to guess at the distance of the shot? By the way I`m not into long range stuff at all.

Charly

Most of the Goat i have stalked have been at the 80 yard mark. They are very tough animals and carry lead well, but a well placed .243 bullet has always done the job for me, though i have taken them with the 30-06 too. Theres quite a bit about Feral Goat shooting in the new publication in my signature.

Very cool. Horns look ibex like.

shavesgreen what cal did you use and what make was your gun guess 175m to your goat?

Merlin,

It was approx 180m shot with a 30.06 (good guess on range) I was using 150gn federal fusion which did not expand on this shot, I will not use them again but will go back to power shok 150`s.

Congrats Charly, great looking goat.

Beautiful looking hillsides there, what no Red stags ?

Wow, the Scottish goat is absolutely beautiful!!! Congrats, the color of his coat is pretty. Would make a fabulous trophy mount!

Congrats Charly! Interesting trophy and what a magnificent landscape...

Thanks for all the kind comments guys! I will take him over to the taxidermist later today so in a few months I`ll post pictures of the mount.
We did spend time looking for stags as well but no joy on this trip.

Very nice guys. Opening the eyes to Scotland.
thanks for the vistas.

Lighter gear (kit) climbing mountains, YES!
I can't agree more, next time you'll remember...

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
