I have this very scope. I think it flies under the radar as the best value in a quality scope, and handily beats out the equivalently priced Vortex, Leupold, and other mid-tier units. You need to get into the top tier Zeiss or Swaro for better, and then it is very marginal gains for multiples of the price.

Would you be willing to sell the fixed eyepiece separately? I have the zoom one for mine already but I'd be interested in that XW 10

Are you happy with this scope? What do you use it for mostly, range or scouting? Any inputs is greatly appreciated.

In this price range (new vs new price that is), I think this is the best spotter out there. To me, the fact that it takes the standard astronomical 1.25" eyepieces is a big advantage. I just looked up what a new one costs and I'm a little surprised that it is about the same price that I paid over 15 years ago. To be honest I have not directly compared this to the latest offerings from other makers in the last few years, but I think a lot of the Vortex and other brands competing at this quality level are using Japanese ED glass, maybe even from the same facility and charging more for the equivalent performance.

I've used it for all of the above, both range and in hunting, and digi-scoping. It is also neat to use for planetary astronomy. The 65mm is ideal for hunting because it's smaller and lighter. I took it on a 8 day hike/hunt in the mountains where it was very useful and not too much of a burden. It is very adequate for other tasks, but for something you'll never carry a 80-100mm is better of course. In low light you will need to stick to lower zoom levels with the 65mm objective. Under certain circumstances you can notice some chromatic aberration (like planetary astronomy), but in normal use cases it isn't noticeable to me. The quality of the eyepiece matters a lot, so don't expect good performance with a $50 eyepiece. Seller is including two high quality ones though. If you were to buy just those 2 eyepieces new it would cost you $500+ probably.

Another edit to say that I wish my 20-60x zoom eyepiece were something like a 15-45x instead, as in most circumstances going above 40x with the 65mm objective sacrifices too much resolution and brightness. The zoom is still a useful feature vs the fixed eyepieces though, but I'm almost always using it in that 20-40 range.

Thanks for the replies. The Pentax was just a range queen

Yes I am happy with the Pentax but rarely used it, it was great for finding small cal bullet holes in targets, Never dropped never abused
