Soap cloths

On my recent Greenland hunt, I was a week in the field with no running water, no ability to shower. I had purchased these Soap Cloths at some point and they turned out to be way better than expected. Just a splash of hot water (from the camp stove) and the cloth would foam up nicely and easily scrub my whole body. The suds evaporate, no need to rinse them off. Super effective and highly recommended. While I don’t see this brand for sale currently, search Amazon for “disposable washcloths with soap” to see similar products.

Gosh, I tried to go to www.soapcloth.com but was taken to some other site. I stopped there. No telling where I would have ended up...

Maybe they are no longer in production? If anyone finds a source, I will be interested.

Amazon was several products of this type as do most medical supply stores. The non-allergic "wet ones" work as well for a no shower cleanse/freshen up. I tried the Dude Wipes and was not impressed.

I’ve used unscented baby wipes for field expedient personal hygiene / washing since the 80s… I never go to the woods without them… whether we are talking a guided hunt in South Africa where we are never more than an hour from a warm shower in the lodge… or spending a week in a spike camp (or worse) somewhere else…

The aloe baby wipe are particularly nice to have on hand when “dootie” calls

Norwex cloths are a good alternative as well. They are impregnated with silver fibers

I like disposable wipes too and find them handy. But they’re not all the same construction. Before you use a bunch of disposable wipes out in the bush, please ensure they are not polyester fiber. Most are. And those wipes are no different than any other plastic trash. They don’t decompose and remain to litter the land for years and years. Finding somebody’s dirty plastic waste left in a beautiful hunting area tends to diminish the experience. Biodegradable wipes are wonderful, and can be burned or buried.

Gosh, it all sounds terrible compared to our 100 litres of piping hot shower water in our camps. Call it spoilt, but some luxuries have to come along no matter where!
