I've been there last year. Taken down SCI gold medal Impala and another trophies like Red Hartebeest, Sable, Gemsbock ... nice place and great people. Comming this year back with friends for Buffalo, Eland, Kudu and others.

The accommodations are very, very nice. They have two chalets and two luxury tents. Much nicer than any hunter really needs and if you're thinking of bringing your other half, she won't be feeling like she's roughing it, that's for sure!
The PH's are a couple of the nicest people you'll meet. They are a young married couple, so if you're looking for an old seasoned veteran African Hunter with 40 years of experience then you won't find it here. If you want someone who is full of energy and will go the extra mile to try to ensure you are happy then you've probably found your place. But make sure you tell them what type of hunt you are after! Facilities are all up to date, modern, nice, and functional. The hunting areas I cannot entirely comment on, as I only hunted their main camp area. I wounded a Sable and committed myself to staying in that same area in hopes of finding it. They do have other concessions and those areas do have some different game as well. I would have loved to try some of the other areas but couldn't bring myself to do it with a wounded Sable. The main camp hunting area is only a couple of sections in size. Most people hunting RSA know that, by law, hunting concessions are fenced. Some places you just don't see them. Here you will, unless you mention to them that you would rather not. Even though the area isn't overly large, the animals have a LOT of cover, and with a fenceline 4 miles long, they certainly have space to elude you. (I never did recover my wounded Sable) Unfortunately, the other concessions I cannot comment on. Game was plentiful, and high quality. No complaints there. From what I saw of my Sable it was a monster! But now my hunting story sounds like a fish story.... The one that got away..... lol

My list includes Wart Hog, gemsbok, crock, sable, bluewildebeeste, maybe impala. My wife will be with me as a non hunter..plan to do some extra activities.. planning on a 12 day Safari.

These monster crocodiles are extremely dangerous game to hunt and a low recoil rifle with enough muscle is advisable. Crocodile hunting requires patience as they are shy and cautious animals. Hunting will be done from a pre-erected hide on the banks of a waterbody and a dead rest shot would be required to hit the golf ball sized brain or spine. Yes i am aware of the croc hunting technique as i have seen many shows on the outdoor channel( tracks across africa, under wild skyes)...

This will be my 3rd safari in SA, so i am familiar with how they hunt there.

One other thing, how are the trackers, skinners, and camp staff , food?

My wife will probably do some side trips while I am out hunting. I am told they can accommodate that activity.

BTW... i am shooting a 30.06 caliber bolt action custom Griffin and Howe model 1903 Springfield which i have used b4 in SA. Have it for years, so i am very comfortable using it...

Should be quite appropriate for any game i am interested in.

I'd love to be able to tell you how awesome the trackers were, but remember I'm out one Sable! I can't blame anyone but myself for not being more patient and waiting for a better shot, but it's hard to rant and rave about how fantastic of a job they did either. It's probably not really fair to them for you to just go by my experience.
The skinners I can't really say..... Until I find out how my taxidermy turns out I guess. ??
Camp staff all seemed good.
MORETLA is a small outfit with a more personal and intimate touch. Rather then them having a professional chef, the PH's and staff will be cooking for you. I was actually very pleased with all the meals provided. Turns out my PH's can cook too!

Where did your shot enter the sable and at what distance/ angle / caliber etc???

Well, I didn't wait for the best shot possibility, but I felt I was ok. He was behind some bushes, but they were light, and I was shooting 180gr from a 30-06. I thought the branches were light enough to not cause much deflection, and he looked to be right behind them. He was quartered towards and I (think) I hit him in his left shoulder area. When we got to where he was standing we found he was probably 4-6 meters or so away from the bush. I'm not sure if that's enough space to have that bullet deflect much or not.?? He was (I'm guessing) 70 yards away at the most.

Well certainly you were shooting a formidable caliber and bullet combo. As i stated b4 i shoot the same caliber and bullet. Yardage was not far, but brush can deflect a shot a bit and since he was not that close behind the brush and quartering toward you .... there was not a full broadside shot that could have given a bigger target and room for error. Was there not a blood trail?

On my first safari i arrowed a blue wildebeest at about 20 or 30 yds. Hit him high broadside above the shoulder blade. He ran off with the rest of the herd ....

We had a great tracker and my PH was very determined in his pursuit .... our tracker Peter was great... we followed blood in the red soil .... he stayed with the herd for a while, running thru ravines. After a while peter got down on his hands and knees and found a blade of grass with just a spot of blood. From there he determined the beest departed from the main herd and my PH knew that it was a matter of time b4 we would catch up to him.

It took us quite some time following his track and blood trail to catch up to him. Peter was amazing in his ability to pic up spore and keep us going in the right direction. We finally found him resting under a acacia tree about 70 yds away. I knew it was not long for him to expire but in order to expedite his demise i used my PH’s 300 win mag . I was totally impressed with Peter tracking ability and attribute that as a significant contribution to our success.

There was a bit of a blood trail, but it was weak. I've been impressed by their abilities as well. I don't even come close to holding a candle to some of these guys! Incredible skills!
