I am an avid hunter in North America and hunting in Africa has been a dream for 40 years. I grew up reading Jack O’Connor, Elmer Keith and all the other great writers of that era. I was always intrigued by the almost magical mystique that the dark continent seemed to exhibit. I have put off this trip for several years due to some unwarranted excuse of some sort. It was my wife that gave me the nudge I needed to move forward realizing my dream. I had several contacts with Marius at KMG prior to my booking. I followed many threads that AH members posted regarding Marius and KMG. The one consistency was that all these people seemed extremely satisfied with their experience made possible by KMG. For me, it was obvious who I would book with for my first safari. My wife and I, decided two years ago that this trip would be an anniversary gift to each other and I am certainly glad she accompanied me as it gave additional depth to this experience. The accommodations and dining were top notch, and better than any experience I have had in North America. The game was abundant and allowed us to be selective with our trophy choices. We hunted kudu, gemsbuck, zebra, impala and blesbuck and took extremely nice animals. We hunted several concessions Marius had obviously pre-scouted and knew exactly what we would encounter in these large areas. This certainly was an on-the-go hunt as we were always glassing, evaluating and stalking for the duration of our trip. This trip was a welcome change from the single specie hunts I am accustom to in North America. In South Africa, there is an opportunity to hunt diverse species and terrain within a 45 minute scenic drive, we were stalking zebra one day and walking the rolling hills and mountains for kudu the next. I’m sure there are others like me, lurking in the shadows of AH thinking about making their dream trip happen but finding excuses and not doing anything about it just like I did. I am grateful for the “push” my wife gave me to contact KMG and making a 40 year dream a reality. We are now in the early stages of planning a return trip again with KMG as the hospitality and welcoming environment at KMG was like visiting with friends and family. Looking forward to our next South Africa sunrise!

Great write up! Happy you had such a great time.
It was nice to meet you in the Security line at the airport . Hope the connecting flight(s) went well.

Welcome KEC, looks like you had a great hunt, I especially like the kudu, congratulations! You couldn't have picked a better outfit than KMG.

Man a great kudu! Congrats on your hunt

Congrats on the hunt and thanks for sharing! Nice kudu !

First welcome to AH! and Welcome to the bitten by the African safari bug club. Your smile says it all about the adventure you had. Congratulation

Glad you got pushed off the fence.
Congratulations on your successful hunt.

Congrats on your hunt, and thanks for sharing !

You have some great trophies there. I hope you kept that Kudu backskin, that looks cool and great dark face and classic horns. That Blesbuck looks huge! I see you were bitten by the Zebra as well. I had mine made into a rug and see it everytime I walk into the house which sparks that great memory. I didn't plan on hunting them until I saw them in the wild which cinched it for me. You and your wife are now officially bitten by the magic of Africa. My wife will be making her first trip there next year, I can't wait.
