Looking to do a buffalo hunt with Duke Safaris in the Klaserie Preserve and was interested if anyone has had previous experience with them. Thanks!
Hello Baggr01,
Yes (**sort of) and they are excellent.
Owned by two former Game Wardens, John Luyt (pronounced "late") and Roelof Nieman, both born and raised where they do their hunting.
John could've been a member of the "Monty Python" comedy group - that man is funny.
You will have plenty of laughs around the evening fires.
Both these two PHs also do freelance guiding at times for "Hannes Swanepoel Safaris", (and visa versa) also an excellent safari company, in that part of South Africa.
**And, I have hunted with John as my PH
a time or two in that capacity.
Plus, Roelof was always around as well, guiding one of my friends, during a couple trips over to Africa.
If you want to impress those guys, use Swift A-Frame as your soft, as they really prefer that one for your all important first shot into a buff.
"Duke Safaris" was named after a massive and famous old tusker by the same name, that unfortunately, I never got to see.
He reportedly was huge of body and huge of tooth as well, a real monarc.
Cheers,
Velo Dog.
