Hi All

Hunting report: Grassland Safaris, Brandfort, South Africa
Wing Shooting

2 Safaris recently with the owner/operator -- Karel and Karien Coetzee

1] Dove Shooting on Sunflower Lines -- Orange Free State, South Africa, March 2015
This shoot is to rival the best available in the world. We were 12 guns on the shoot, mainly from the Nelspruit area, most guys on their yearly shoot some has been returning for 15 years.
Very profesional outfit with excellent safety and management by Karel
We shot in excess of 1500 shots over two days per gun, with hit rates anything form 25-30%, thus a LOT of doves as potential targets, very difficult shooting though
Very fast flying quarry, mostly Rock Pigeon and Red Eye Pigeons feeding on Sunflower fields
If a gun is silent for too long Karel will move you immediately to a better spot on the line.
All ammo, and post shoot drinks and food supplied by outfitter
Very very affordable even for SADC standards
Ammo: No 7, 24/28 Gr

2] Mixed Bag Shooting -- Orange Free State , South Africa, June 2015
Day 1 -- Up at 05;00 for Waterbird Shoot, 5 guns in wet 1 Degree Centigrade conditions
Good shooting to be had, behind a very large ground dam wall,
Moved on the afternoon after brunch to driving hunt for Tarentaal, Grouse etc into a river/stream habitat. Good line discipline enforced by the PH, Karel, excellent game birds taken
Day 2 -- Up at 06:00, wet conditions, went for Quail in Teff Grass fields, not a lot of birds found, but some good shots as they are very fast flying game birds
Moved to open grassland for Tarentaal and Grouse, good success, excellent gun dogs, Boss and Greta
Ammo: No 4 0r 5, 38/40 Gr

All in all a fantastic shoot, visit www.grassland.co.za, be quick! they are booked up to 2 years in advance for shoots, 6 days a week for 7 months!! If thats not testimony to a good operation I don't know what is!!

Karel, is a great operator, does a good job.

Awesome glad you had a great time!

Bookings like that are a very good indicator of happy customers.
It certainly appears that they have another in you!

Thanks for sharing your report.
