Dear AH community,
having collected and compared several offers via this forum I made my choice for Spear Safaris.
For my two kids and myself it was the 3rd hunting trip to Africa. After having hunted two times in Zimbabwe (you can find short trip reports here too) we were really looking forward for experiencing South Africa.
We departed end of march heading to Johannesburg. The flight from Frankfurt was uneventfully and after 11 hours of travelling we arrived at the airport where we were expected from the employe of Africa sky hotel. They had prepared the documents for the temporary gun permits which was a good choice to book. Checking the preapproved permits and guns took just a few minutes and off we went to the driver Marc who was already waiting in front of the airport. The 5 hours of driving passed very fast with all the new impressions… and after in total 24 hours after leaving home we arrived at the lovely camp at 3 pm. The camp atmosphere was unbelievable, camp staff was friendly and polite. Same was PH and owner Ernest who was going to guide us the next 12 days.
The concession was in the northern Limpopo with extremely thick bush. Visibility at this time of the year was really challenging. Therefore, you often had to make quick or long shots. Not very easy. Regarding this it was the right decision to bring in our own guns.
We hunted in this concession for 7 days and then had a short trip to the banks of the Limpopo river in order to hunt for bushbuck. After that we moved to a camp on to of the Drakensberg close to greater Kruger where we spent the rest of the time.
Attached you find some impressions.
We had an awesomel time with Ernest and hunting couldn`t have been better. I`m sure we`ll be coming back…
