Hunting reports
Africa
2
One more week and it’s off to hunt # 3 of the big 5 my first Cape buffalo. Will be hunting in South Africa with intrepid safaris. Going to hunt a few plains game also while I’m there. Actually had the plains game booked for my wife but she had to council at the last min but that’s okay. This will be my third hunt to Africa and can’t wait. Closing in on my big 5. Tried to buy a side by side over the last 2 months but just don’t know enough about them yet. I am left handed and want to buy a used one between 10 and 15 g. I will have one when it comes time to hunt my elephant and another buff. I’ll just take my MG ARMS 375 this time. It’s an excellent gun as all my MG Arms guns are. Big season coming up. Stone sheep in Aug to finish my slam. Hoping to have a safe and enjoyable trip. Will try to do a report when I return.

Good luck on your hunt Lucky 1. Yes be careful buying a used double. We do have very knowledgeable people on this site, such as @AZDAVE and @Red Leg that can answer yours questions. It's my understanding that if you buy one that has problems, it can be very expensive to have repaired, and very few smiths that are competent to make the repairs!

Best if luck in your hunt..375 awesome cakiver.

Have a great time, look forward to the report!

Have a great hunt and come back with lots of pictures!

Enjoy your adventure.
Take lots of pictures

A buff in RSA and a Stone Sheep from Canada sounds like a grand year in the works. Are you hunting BC or Yukon for the Stone's?

@Lucky 1 @sierraone Have a good safari. I will be hunting with Phillip in a couple months:A Big Hello:
Doubles are my favourite rifle to hunt with, if you want send me a PM with a phone number and we can talk about the basics of double and what to look for, once we cross over my expertise level there are a couple guys here on AH I can recommend to continue the advanced double course.

Good luck and shoot straight, please post a report on your return.

Sounds absolutely wonderful. Enjoy and keep us posted.

Just return from SA after 12 days of hunting with Intrepid safaris. This was my second trip with Intrepid and what a hunt it was. Phillip the owner of Intrepid delivered just like always. Collected several animals with Cape buffalo being my most sought after. First class operation. Very well organized. Food and camp was superb. Took my buffalo on day 5. Looked over lots of bulls to get this old warrior. This was my 3rd trip across the pond and have to say I just love hunting Africa and hope to go back as much as possible. I highly recommend Intrepid and hope to hunt again with them in the future. Here are some photos of my animals
Kudu was 581/2
Klipspringer
Warthog
Buffalo 38

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.

Do you have any more copies of African Dangerous Game Cartridges, Author: Pierre van der Walt ? I'm looking for one. Thanks for any information, John [redacted]
