I have this very nice condition Springfield 1903A3 barreled action I’d like to sell. The bore is very good. The receiver is a National Ordnance receiver and the barrel of a Remington dated 1945. The sighting apparatus and stamped bottom metal are intact and the matte blued is nice. I thought about building it into a nice open sighted sporter but I just don’t need another rifle in that category. It could easily put back to military spec as well. Just need a stock, upper handguard and retainers. I’d like $400 shipped to your FFL.

Thanks,

RC

To put it "back to mil spec" would require another receiver since the Nat Ord is a cast commercial receiver and not GI. Only Remington and Smith Corona made them for the A3.

True. Thanks for your input, bud. Thank you for the bump. The National ord receiver was not mil-spec, but an after-market part from the 1950s. A build using like new, original mil-spec parts. The barrel is a mirror and the bolt, sights, and other parts are like new. This barreled action is in great condition. Put it back into a mil-spec-like condition if you choose to go that route. Or build a sporter in the Griffen and Howe style. Either would make a great shooter. Let me know if you have any questions.

Booked with Harold Grinde - Gana River - they sure kill some good ones - who'd you get set up with?

That's a wrap, on our first hunt of this years season.

Hunting conditions are a bit tougher in South Africa during the month of February, but can be just as rewarding if done right.
