Swarovski Z8 I, 34mm tube

I think 1” scopes are slightly more aesthetically pleasing on DGRs than 30 mm, but given limitations, especially for illuminated reticles, most of mine are 30 mm. I don’t believe I have actually seen 34 mm mounted yet (on a DGR). I have not checked lately, and perhaps the market is catching up with 34 mm, but at least in the not too distant past you could not buy Talley quick detach rings in 34 mm and Recknagel/EAW only made them for picatinny bases/rails. Perhaps the same for Alaska Arms. Then again, it is also quite possible that I am behind the times. :-).

I wanted a 30mm, but Swarovski now only makes the Z8 I in 34mm

Thanks, you are right, but I can buy the 34mm for $2800 versus $3300 for the 30mm, I don't feel good about spending $3300 for a scope, I have a set of Talley lightweight mounts for my rifle.

I think @mdwest said it in another thread. There are no good mounting options for 34mm scopes.

I looked last night after asking which magnification. I couldn’t find any Talley for a Winchester Safari and 34mm. I assume they’re in development or scheduled for production because they have the option, but they’re not available.

Yes, I ordered mine directly from Talley for a Kimber Caprivi , lightweight alloy 34 mm, they also had the steel mounts

I struggled with scopes moving from ” to [emoji[emoji6][emoji6]] mm. I think that all the performance we need can be had in a ” scope unless you’re talking about very long range shooting. I absolutely will not own a mm scope. I think they look terrible, and add no practical performance advantage.

I would pay the extra money for the [emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]mm Z[emoji[emoji6]]i. I have one. It is truly outstanding.
